Backcountry Snowcats is relaxed and friendly cat skiing operation located just north of Whistler. Hosts Reg and Kathy have built a comfy lodge that has twin share rooms, full bath rooms, a hot tub and delicious meals. However comfy as the lodge is the emphasis at back country snowcats is really on the skiing. Backcountry Snowcats have awesome and varied terrain, from high alpine bowls, to steep trees, to amazing pillow lines and mellow powder fields. There is plenty to suit all abilities. The snow is amazing, it is slightly further toward the interior and as such the snow is colder and drier than nearby Whistler. The area gets a massive amount of snow and the guides know exactly the best way to milk the terrain and snow for the conditions that they receive. The guides are superb and have a deep knowledge of the micro terrain and snow. I think that for skiers comparing costs and quality between a weekend at Backcountry Snowcats and a weekend in Whistler, it's a no brainer!
