Bring lots of water and more bug spray . It is about a 10 km round trip hike. Once you get to the river it's really cool. Some very interesting history. A fantastic work out. It's a fairly easy hike with some good hills , gets the heart rate upBe bear aware

We drove all the way out there to a dead end road with a gate with no signs indicating that a park was even there, instead we got private property signs. There was one spot that looked like a trail may have existed there but could have been an old animal trail. Very disappointed

I'm in pain. So much pain. This is more of a goat path than a hiking trail. Your feet will hate you by the end due to roots sticking up all throughout the hike, and unless you are actually a goat the walk back is like the Bataan Death March, only uphill most of the way. Put aside at least 4.5 hours with driving, more if you actually want to follow the nightmarish path to the river. You have been warned.

Love this hike! A friend and I discovered this little beauty last year and we were very impressed. It only took us about 4 or 5 hours to do the 10km. It is really great to dip your toes into the river at the turn around point in the hike.

Trail is very rough - roots break the surface of the trail making it very difficult to walk on - you cannot take a single step without looking down to ensure that you do not twist an ankle or trip. Scenery is lacking and although reports call this an easy trail with little elevation change - that's bull. Have done the trail many years ago when I was younger and in reasonable shape - last year I was not prepared. This year is different but there is not enough points of interest to get me on the trail again - the canyon is ho-hum. Be prepared - if you are not a hiker or in good condition reconsider - ensure that you have good shoes preferably with firm soles to protect the feet from the roots - sandals/ flats/ flipflops are not an option. Bring bear bells, bug spray and lots of water. Give yourself 2 to 3 hours so that you can stop and enjoy yourself - this is NOT a skip in the park - some kids won't be happy dispite what the write-ups say.

General a nice trail and well maintained, however it was caterpillar season so they were hanging from the tree on on the undergrowth. The very end of May to early June is a very gross time of year to walk the trail, I would never do it again in that season. It was also rather muddy but some nice people had put logs over the mud puddles to cross. Thanks to whomever. I was surprised at the clear cutting of trees so close to the trail at the start near the parking lot. It was a fire hazard to have dry slash piles left there and destroyed the atmosphere of wild nature. Only advantage was less mosquitos. kath
