We went on this place a couple of time during our stay on les Iles de la Madeleine. This is a nice spot with many different boutiques and snacks. Really fun to walk there and buy some nice souvenirs.

La Grave is an excellent spot for walking and shopping. You won't want to leave without purchasing a little souvenir! Unfortunately, we had a terrible experience at the little Chocolate shop. We bought a few chocolate treats as well as a couple of assorted gift boxes for friends. The chocolate we bought for ourselves was inedible. It was awful, truly. My mother returned later that day to quietly return the 2 gift boxes. Not only was she denied the right to return the boxes, she was publicly humiliated! The shopkeeper got everyone in the room to gang up on her, as if her dissatisfaction with the chocolate was an affront on Iles culture. I was shocked when she returned with the boxes.

La Grave; what a gem of history (Acadian settlement) and culture (arts). The diversified boutiques are both fun and inspiring, some with top notch quality items. Artists' paradise on the Islands. Go at sunset and enjoy it over the water; the Harbour is on the other side. Great for a relaxing walk before or after dinner at the various restaurants. Some boutiques close early though (8PM); the others at 9PM.

Lots of great shopping and the scenery is amazing. Make sure you visit the Artisans du Sable (the sand artists).

"Mon Hockey," Claude Cormier singing a song about his favourite sport...the tasty tapas at Vent du Large...the soul-stirring sunset...the full moon's reflection and stars twinkling upon the bay...the sound of laughter and live accordion music streaming from Cafe la Grave, where I had the best grilled cheese sandwich...all the places here I didn't experience that will tug my wife and I back to this safe harbour for a Canadian Spy. Tout à fait.

This is a historic shopping & dining area. Interesting collection of shops, restaurants and bars. Quite a variety of shopping to choose from from unique high quality original creations (www.artisansdusable.com, Boutique Emmerance, and several more) to souvenirs. The dining selection runs from the basic Four a Pain to high end Le Bout du Monde with 3 or 4 in between. Café de la Grave, located in a former general store is a must see... especially at night when the spontaneous live music takes hold. Sea glass can be found on the gravely beach.

Café de La Grave is not just a restaurant, café or bistro, but truly an institution on les Îles de la Madeleine. What was once a general store in the picturesque village of La Grave, is now the place to enjoy good food, drinks, entertainment and conversation (mostly in French). From early morning until late at night it will be bustling with locals and tourists alike. The menu features comfort foods a la francais. Clan Chowder served in a hollowed boule of bread, fish cakes, venison burgers, and always a daily special featured on the blackboard, are but a few of the staples. The most expensive item on the menu is $15.50 CD. This establishment is now proudly owned and operated by Sonia Painchaud, a very attractive young lady who also entertains with vocals, accordion and piano. The entertainment is impromptu and often includes talented patrons. On numerous occasions, my wife and I have satisfied our appetites for food, beverage and a convivial good time here. This is a must when visiting les Îles de la Madeleine.
