What a great experience. We actually decided to spend one month on Raiatea because of the high praise for this excursion and we were not disappointed with either decision. The excursion itself helped me feel more comfortable with the underwater life in general so that I felt safe on my own adventures in the Raiatea lagoon. We swam with manta rays and sharks...an amazing experience to be sure but it was the coral gardens teeming with life that was truly awesome. I didn't know that clams had scalloped shells with iridescent grins, for example. The sea anemone and Nemo. What more could I ask for?Bruno knew how to spot some hidden sea creatures and was very patient with the more timid explorer (that would be me). I absolutely love drift snorkeling. All the fun with hardly any work. Arii, I hope I got that right, Bruno's boatman on the trip, helped guide me through some of the trickier coral paths. I always felt safe and attended. The lunch on a Motu was delicious and our companions included other USAmericans from the Princess Cruise, a young man from Israel and a woman from France. There were ten altogether which was a perfect sized group. While I agree with the reviewer who said that Bruno seemed somewhat disinterested during the trip, he answered any questions we had and took fabulous underwater photos that he shared immediately online. What a great souvenir...Thanks Bruno for the great introduction to your beautiful lagoon. Maururu roa.

This all day excursion has drawn rave reviews on Trip Advisor, and it certainly tries to cover all bases with a visit to a vanilla farm and another visit to a pearl farm, lunch on a motu and snorkeling in clear lagoon waters. It is a full day! While the vanilla farm visit was most interesting, I found that the pearl farm visit was rather superficial and had all the elements of an effort to sell us some pearls. Snorkeling is interesting, but I believe that it should be, because of the strong current, done only by experienced swimmers. Lunch at the motu was excellent. Our guide for the whole day was Bruno; while he is clearly passionate about the area which has been home for him for many years, he occasionnally appeared somewhat dissinterested and gave what I would call rather cursory information or instructions.

I read about Bruno's excursion on Trip Advisor and decided to take a chance. Bruno was waiting in his boat next to the Shell Station (I thought it was going to be nick knack shells, but it's actually the gas station). We had already been to a pearl farm and weren't excited about repeating it but the French gal who explained the process was much easier to understand than the previous tour and there was no hard sell. And we had a chance to actually see the divers and how they cared for the oysters prior to harvesting. Plus the selling room was a quaint white picketed fence New Orleans type home, complete with a tree house and rope swing right on the bay. The vanilla harvesting did involve going into the "jungle" a bit so be sure you have your mosquito repellant...I didn't but luckily didn't get bit. Also interesting but it was very hot. By the time we got to snorkel we were all more than ready. We had 3 diverse stops, and the drift snorkel was by far one of the most exhilarating and a bit scary experience we've ever had...right up there with zip lining. The current was quite strong and the coral very close. My husband's legs were a bit banged up...but if you are careful you'll be fine. I didn't get cut at all. As Bruno says...just don't panic and let the current take you. You can actually stand on the coral, just don't let the tide pull you into it. We also swam with the rays...they are very tame and come right up to you. I never saw a shark but others did...I was glad I didn't. The sit down lunch was on an private beach, with loads of local barbeque chicken, fish salad, rice, and the most delicious bread that tasted like cornbread hot out of the oven. We were all starving after exerting ourselves in the water. It was a full day of fun, sun, food, fish and new friends. A bunch of us had met on a previous tour on Huihine that was rated #1 on trip advisor too so we already knew each other and all had a great time. We just got the gopro email that Bruno took which was a nice (free) touch to remember the day. Well worth $140 pp.

This is the only tour we were ready to have be done and had a good time but not a great one.Our tour was extremely full and the boat was cramped. I'm surprised that the boat could hold as many people were actually on our tour. Our tour guide and another couple translated somewhat for us, but most of the time we were left out as we were the only English speaking couple on that particular tour. I had read many good reviews for this company and had never read about anyone else having our problem. I do understand that we are visitors and the primary language is French; however, at the pearl farm there was no speaking to us at all. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed. The only part of the tour we really enjoyed was when we were in the water and snorkeling. The stops were nice and we enjoyed the food during lunch time. The lunch stop seemed excessively long but the food was good and we had a very good selection. We talked to another couple that had done the same type of tour but with a different company and they went on and on about what a great time they had. I wished we had gone with their company as I was ready to be done with the tour before it even ended.

We had an amazing time with our guide George. He told us the current was very strong for the drift snorkel that day and advised us what might happen. It was like riding a roller coaster in the water. WHAT FUN. I did it twice. It helps to have rash guard on to prevent any cuts from the coral and they do offer float vests, but I had my own. The snorkel spots we were taken to were very nice with lots of fish, sharks and rays. I liked learning about the vanilla plantation and the pearl farm. Our picnic was on a beautiful tropical island with more then enough to eat with rum punch. Lounges in the shad or sun to relax after your meal and the view was heaven. George was helpful, intelligent a and kept us entertained the whole tour. Thank you for a great day.

My wife and I took Bruno's excursion on December 6, 2014. The vanilla and pearl farms tours were very educational and Bruno even showed us how each vanilla orchid was pollinated by hand. The highlights of the tour for us were the snorkeling and lunch at a motu. The snorkeling sites were the best we have ever encountered in terms of water clarity, colors and number of different coral species (we have dipped our snorkels in the Maldives and the Great Barrier Reef). We totally enjoyed the snorkeling part of the tour. Bruno was in the water with us taking pictures and helping those in need. The motu lunch was very enjoyable indeed. The food was Polynesian; fresh and tasty. I loved the coconut bread and the papaya with coconut milk desert. We were sitting on a beach overlooking another motu with a coral garden in between. All eight of us enjoyed this peaceful environment so much that we stayed on the motu for an extended period of time.Sadly, we all had to get back to the boat. This wonderful tour lasted over eight hours and we recommend this tour for visitors to Raiatea and Tahaa. Don't miss it.Merci, Bruno.

Hello and thank you for your message. We're working hard to be successful and you will understand that your message attracts attention. We had two boats, we have Judith on mine it may be you. When you mention "snorkeling" it concerns two coral gardens and a stop with rays and sharks in open water.Your laconic and lapidary message should not hide our rich program that lasts 8:30 hours. The shallowest coral garden is more difficult in the case of high current, and we adapt by choosing the garden side which has the most direct route. We had on my boat a person of 84 years who has monopolized one of 2 people that surround swimming, his wife called Judith, it may be you, and maybe he should have been a third person in this case to frame swimming. It has not been reported particular incident and I do not understand. The meal prepared by the Polynesian family was in line with meal that is served usual. Our rum punch I prepared myself was drunk, and we had a beer consumption of 7 liters well above the average for 12 people considering that on average 8 out of 12 consume beer. We will soon be able to email to passengers the photo report link of their tour. Our program and our service are difficult to match, however, we are working in the human and natural environment that does not allow us to be 100% satisfaction and we know that we are perfectible. Your message is in this valuable.

During our cruise of French Polynesia on the Pacific Princess, we booked a tour with a full day, 8 hour tour with L' Excursion Bleue. It was one of the best tour we had during our cruise. During the day we visited a vanilla plantation, a pearl farm, snorkeled a few amazing sites and had lunch while circling the island of Tahaa. During the day, Bruno was taking pictures with a GoPro camera. We were not sure why until a week after our excursion when an email arrived with pictures that he had taken during the day. He had taken pictures above and below the water. The underwater pictures were amazing and provided memories of our day that we would have had without Bruno's "gift". Would recommend L' Excursion Bleue to anyone with a day to spend on Raiatea.
