Even Nobbys Beach is a little bit small, but they got excellent waves that is very suitable for surfers. Also quite clean but be careful of the octopuses!
Beach is well attended by surf lifesavers, has easy access with car parks and facilities close by. Location is very close to the city.
Great beach to surf. It's a small beach but with very good waves to surf / bodyboard on. You will enjoy it!
when the water is low you can walk along the rock-pool area and observe the diverse marine wildlife! Caution Octopus-encounters/attacks highly possible!
In Sydney a "must see" is the iconic Bondi beach in Newcastle a "must see" is Nobbys Beach! There is a very long breakwater dividing Nobbys beach and the Newcastle Harbour. As you walk along the breakwater you view the wow factor of this fantastic scenery. Along one side Nobbys active surfing beach on the other the activities of a bustling shipping harbour.A photographer's delight, popular with walking enthusiasts, surfers, families with young children, and the elderly. Safe flat walking, stroller and wheelchair friendly, toilets, tables and chairs on lawn near a good café, safe patrolled beach.
Very scenic, also interesting when big ships pass by on the other side of the breakwater. The sand is golden and fine.
I have lived and grown up near Nobbys Beach and witnessed its passage throughout the years. There is so much to see and do apart from swimming, surfing, sun bathing and dining.I love this beach and it is constantly offerring so many changing vistas acording to the time and mood of the day and season.Of course care must be taken as there can be rips and yes sometimes (well this summer anyway)sharks have been on the prowl but you will be warned to these hazards at all times. The views are second to none and of course a beautiful stroll out to the light house is a must.Make this a must when you visit our wonderful beach...just enjoy and take away memories which will never fade.
Nobbys magnificent surf beach. The place where the Pusha Bulka came to rest in the storms of 2007. Nobbys has been celebrated for years as a magnificent beach.
My daughter & I walk from Nobbys to Strezlecki lookout and back nearly every day. We stop at Swells cafe for coffee at the end of our walk. Something different to see every day. Makes us glad to be alive and have access to this beautiful place.
Australia is such a lucky country to have such great beaches so close to great cities. Beach is well patrolled
Loved eating breakfast under the pavilion. The cafe makes great egg and bacon rolls and the coffee always tastes better in the morning at the beach. The view from Nobby's was brilliant - the lighthouse is open Sundays 10am - 4pm
Strong currents, but definitely worth visiting for the walk. Car park and out buildings have building work for next few weeks, so we walked around the small bay to Newcastle beach, which was excellent.
We went here and had a nice lunch from the cafe. Hubby had the chicken blat was nice and I had the fish n chips which was also nice. The beach was closed by the time we had finished eating as the water had a lot of rips. There is construction going on at the moment so the serenity is not a peaceful as expected. But still a nice beach.
Beach looked great but was closed! Fair enough I suppose, those sharks can get pretty annoying! However there was a lovely natural lagoon perfect for swimming and children which we swam in and is right on the beach. Beautiful place...
it's unusual ... walk all the way to the end - to the break water / peer - if you can and the tide isn't too high
