An oasis of lush gardens. Fascinating to see how a paddock has been transformed into gardens rooms; very cleverly designed. We came away with ideas we could try.
The few hours we spent in these varied and exquisite gardens was simply a delight . The landscaping is varied , surprising and clever . Everywhere I looked was splashed with shape texture , form and colour in such a artistic way that I felt joy. The pleasure of this experience is one I will treasure and definitely repeat seasonally . I can't wait to take my parents there and will definitely take our soon to arrive oversea relatives to visit. Being an avid gardener myself , it was an added delight to be able to purchase some of my favourite plants from these gardens from the guys whose 20 year labor of love has created this wonderful place . Thankfully they also propagate many of what may well be other wise very difficult to source varieties of plants . While there are no on site Toilets there are some not to far away as there is a very nice little country pub with food service less than 500meters up the rd . Would be a amazing place to hold a wedding at.
From the moment you step into this garden you are entering into an amazing world !! Each corner you turn and there is another garden - from hedges to the beautiful and calming lake , and the wonderful statues. One of the best gardens we have had the pleasure of walking around !!
We’ve been to the garden twice. The first time was in autumn and the second time was in spring. The garden looked very different in different seasons and the garden in autumn is just as fun as it is in spring. It’s amazing peaceful and beautiful! It's a must go!
Red Cow Farm is not a farm. It is 6 acres of beautiful gardens. They are divided into sections and each garden is a pleasant surprise. This is certainly worth a visit, only $10 entry and you will see some very interesting plants and flowers. There is also a small lake, and a little shop at the front. No cafe or toilets though. Enjoy!
We visited the Red Cow Farm in mid October 2014. Actually it's not a farm, it's a stunning & secretive garden hiding behind a cottage. There are about 20 rooms, each with different themes & designs, full of beautiful & spectacular plants decorated by many adorable statues. We did not expect to see a lake & a bridge where you can take good photos of. Make sure you visit all gardens including the hidden ones !!GPS seemed to have problems directing us to the exact location & we almost missed it. If you are driving from Sydney, the cottage garden is located on the other side of the hightway. I found that even the elderly visitors were able to stroll & admired the beauty of the garden under an hour. It would be perfect if there is a cafe & restrooms. We have decided to go back again in summer & are pretty sure it's a garden for all seasons!!
If you are in the area is a must see. Only $10 p.p to go through 6 acres of the most beautiful gardens have been to. Very peaceful to wander through could easily spend a couple of hrs taking it all in
Magnificently designed garden evocative of the great gardens of Europe. The modest cottage which fronts the road gives no indication of the extensive and well designed gardens which lie behind. Truly worth a visit.
Lovely gardens which deserve visiting several times over a year to fully appreciate the variety of plantings.
It was early spring so many plants are yet to bloom. However the lovely ambiance of Red Cow is evident. It is a delight to wander around this beautifully designed and maintained garden using the clear map supplied. Each turn reveals a new and delightful new garden patch, each with a unique theme. Even though we were there so early in the spring season we could still appreciate the care and thought that has gone into creating this lovely place. The proprietors are very friendly and have all the time in the world to discuss gardening. If you like looking at gardens and you are in the area it ios a very pleasant place to visit.
Don't be deceived by the unassuming look from the main road, it's a truly beautiful garden in all seasons
My boyfriend and I visited from nearby Bundanoon. This was a different style of garden coming from Japanese ones but very beautiful
One of the loveliest gardens we have seen in Australia - well worth the visit. Incredibly well maintained (hedges were perfect!), gardens were beautiful and a very interesting mix of plants, a number of quite rare plants, fantastic owner with a wealth of knowledge which he was more than willing to share. Definitely worth a visit. Just loved it!
A beautiful garden, well worth the visit. We were greeted by some very friendly border collie dogs who love having visitors, so if you're not a dog lover be prepared. The grounds are sensational, lots of love and care has gone into the making of this garden. Lovely that they share it with the public.
Our visit to Red Cow Farm was probably the best experience we've ever had in privately owned garden, and we'd now rate it as our favourite attraction in the Southern Highlands. In just 22 years of devoted work, owners Ali Mentesh and Wayne Morrissey have achieved an extraordinary transformation from barren farmland to a rich private world of mature plantings, stone walls, shady walkways, ponds and bridges. We explored it with our grown daughter and two year old grandson and could have stayed for hours, exploring each little 'world' that opened up before us. This garden project shows vision and dedication to a future resource that will outlast both owners. As we were leaving we were reminded of the ancient Greek quote about the optimism of gardeners: “Society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they shall never sit in.”
