aspro game fishing charters

Asked around the marina which was the best charter business and was recommended to go with Aspro. We went out on Aspro for a full day's game fishing trip. Had a fantastic day with three marlin hooked up during the day. Unfortunately the fish didn't stay connected but that's not the guys fault - these fish play for keeps! The marlin come right up to the back of the boat to take our bait - they were less than 6 metres from the boat when they snatched the bait!! Fantastic to watch these professionals tease the marlin right up to the back of the boat, then slip the bait into the water which was then smashed.It was great to be out on the Continental Shelf and to see how the dolphins surf in the bow wave and all around the boat. The colour of the water is so beautiful out there - you never see it looking like that in closer to shore. These guys really know how to find the fish and Captain Jeff isn't afraid to put the hammers down to get you out to the fishing grounds quickly. He keeps his boat immaculately clean and there's no smelly fumes you sometimes get on other charter boats. Thoroughly professional crew. They even provided morning tea and lunch which was so fresh and my companions really enjoyed having a proper toilet and bathroom rather than the old 'over the side' routine. Even gave us a beer on the ride home!!Hint - sometimes there are different deckies so if you get a chance to book in advance ask for Foxy - he's a legend on the South Coast and he's happy to show novices how to do everything. If you want some real fun ask him if you can wind up the bait fish from 140m down - it is hard work but is real fun when you get six fish hit the deck at the same time.They also do half day bottom fishing trips but if you have the time (and the extra $) and Jeff says the marlin are on, then go marlin fishing with Aspro.

An enjoyable experience all round. Jeff the Captain and Ian the deck hand were very professional. On booking the charter communication was great, Jeff got back to me when be said he would and on the morning both the boys were at the marina at 6 ready to go. The Aspro was very comfortable, large fishing deck that easily accommodates 6 Fisherman. Lovely cabin and a toilet. On our day out the wind had picked up and there was quite a swell but the Aspro handled it all very well. Jeff has been in the industry for many years and knows the local fishing grounds. Ian (nick name foxy) kept a baited fishing rod in our hands all day and always had a spare ready to go in case some got snapped off. He has great knowledge and was very approachable.To sum up Jeff and Ian gave an experience that sent us all home with fish and a smile.

I had a great time with Jeff from Aspro Game Fishing Charters - I was a novice fisher-person and went out with Jeff - I caught a huge fish 1st cast off - unbelievable but true. Had the best day - would love to go again - totally worth it - really do recommend this as a great experience - Joy
