Loved this 1950's cinema. Great value. Wonderful service. Really nice place to seek refuge from the afternoon heat and take in a movie.

I've been here numerous times over the years, being an Airlie Beach local! the staff are always friendly even when it gets busy and noisy. I loved the look of the building being a blast from the past and not about the glamorous looks of the building like big cities have.

It is a bit historical and old world but a great little place to chill out and take in a movie. The little shop sells yummy caramel popcorn and great ice cream along with all other confectionary

Unique and charming old style cinema which has been carefully maintained. You'll receive a warm welcome and a personal nod from the charismatic owner Ben, a genuine gentleman who gives this place its additional helping of old school grace and magic.

Took six kids for such a low cost and had great service and very good quality screen and sound. All children could see easily and parking was so easy too. Food was good price and fresh!

We started going to the Summergarden many years before Debbie and I moved to live in Bowen permanently. What a great theatre it is.This well cared for older building has modern seating that is well arranged so that even big blokes like myself can be comfortable throughout the show. You can't come to Bowen without going to the movies at the Summergarden.Cheers,Kim Dale.

A great old cinema ! A old drive in.Ben De Luca, the owner is so nice ! He'll show you the "back" of the cinema. The food is very good. In this place, the movie "Australia" was turned. Ben had a lot of pics and autographes !Enjoy guys

Really quaint. Not at all what you expect. Latest films and you get to meet the owner chappie and it seems his very extended family. The standard Cinema snacks are available at normal, silly, Cinema prices.

Visited the Summer Garden Cinema in January 2014 to watch Saving Mr Banks. We were on holiday from the UK & visiting our daughter and her partner who live in Bowen. The theatre is a wonderful old fashioned intimate family run cinema and we were given a great welcome and lots of interesting information about the theatre and the making of the film Australia in the town by the owner Benny.Great experience. Well worth a visit and will be back next year. Thanks Benny

The Summergarden theatre is located in Murroona St bowen. It has two theatres. Tickets prices are fair. Staff are friendly and owner is a character. It is also often used for performances for music or fund raising functions. Made famous when Australia was filmed starring Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman .

Have been to the movies here a couple of times over recent school holidays. Staff are so friendly. Prices are so cheap compared to the major cinemas. A real asset to the community. Great quality night out viewing.

The Summergarden Theatre is a destination in itself, styled on the lines of a Southern California movie house it has a look that is unforgettable. It has been operated by the De Luca family for the last sixty years. When I took the kids on their school holidays recently, Ben De Luca was there as usual with a personal welcome. The personal service is a feature not just of the small town of Bowen but the enthusiasm shown by the owners and staff that makes in a special treat when you visit the Summergarden Theatre. I have included a link to the Summergarden history page and can suggest that if you are a film lover or just a casual movie goer never pass up on a chance to attend when in Bowen. I enjoy the ambiance of the Summergarden whether I attend alone, with family or, as I have, with a bus load of happy kids on a school holiday trip. The Summergarden is an enjoyable attraction in the climate capitol of the entire world - Bowen, Queensland.
