I can thoroughly recommend the 7 day Coral Sea Kayaking Hinchinbrook Isl trip. We had a wonderful holiday, experiencing beautiful locations with the assistance of experienced guides who were also fabulous cooks! We had headwinds for the first 3 days, followed by tailwinds for the last 4. The guides kept a close on on weather conditions and tailored our trip to the conditions so that we were never over-extended. We paddled no more than 3 hours per day - resting for 5-10 mins every half hour or so - and despite having to vary our plans due to the headwinds at the start, easily made up the time once the tailwinds arrived. Setting off in the morning, this left us plenty of time to set up camp in the afternoon and explore, relax or swim. Sooo many lovely beaches! The wonderful meals cooked by our guides, Dave and Michelle, were a surprise - much more tasty and varied than any our our group of 5 had expected. This reflected the pride and planning that Dave and Michelle put into their work. A lovely lunch at Dunk Isl and a few beers was a nice near end to the trip with some extra excitement navigating a sailing regatta into Mission Beach. Wonderful memories and lots of lovely photos! Wish I could do it all again!
We had a wonderful day out with Attie paddling to Dunk Island this week. It's hard to narrow it down to just one highlight so we will list a few.... Excellent equipment set us off on the right foot right from the start, the onshore paddle demo gave us the confidence to tackle the waves ( they were pretty small on the way over but really picked up on the way back - the whopping that came from Attie's kayak on the way back was a sure sign that big waves were a rare but welcome event), home made healthy bars jam packed with seads, nuts and fruit kept us going, a short snorkel before a devine lunch fit for even the fussiest eaters followed by an informative walk through the bush ( Attie was on a mission to make sure we found a golden orb spider in action success, they are very cool to watch in action!). Our return trip back to the mainland was a little more action packed as the swell from the south east built. At no time did we ever feel worried, to be honest we all loved the excitement. Back on land we said our goodbyes knowing that we would be back again to do another trip with these guys... Maybe the three day adventure might be next on the list. A brilliant day out and well worth ever cent!
We did the Dunk Island day tour. This was a lovely day - being on the water was a fun way to enjoy the beautiful scenery, and we got to see a ray and some sea turtles! Attie was a great guide, and full of interesting information about the area and the environment. We enjoyed all the time on the water, and both Dunk Island and Portaboy Island were so beautiful. Lunch on the beach was delicious, and we had the opportunity to snorkel off of Dunk Island. This is a great way to see and enjoy the area!
We had a great time with coral sea kayaking! Our guide was very informative and she adjusted our trip according to our needs. The views were incredible and we saw rays and dugongs. Water was provided throughout and the lunch was fresh and delicious! We were given snorkelling equipment and went to coconut beach, which was beautiful and deserted. Would love to do again and even some of the longer overnight trips :)
Well let's start with the fact there was nothing not to like about this trip!We did the day trip to Dunk Island and went out on an absolutely beautiful morning and Atti was our guide for the day, and she was absolutely brilliant! However, prior to going out we had lessons from David on the beach about how to use the kayaks and just to familiarise ourselves with them. Then our trip to Dunk Island began, the water was calm and we had a relaxing paddle over to the island, nothing was a rush, we were able to take our time and enjoy the surroundings and before we knew it we had arrived on the island. When we got there, we got out on a beautiful beach and had a short walk round, and were given some homemade flapjack for a morning snack - yummy! We then went for a paddle around the coastline, again seeing some beautiful scenery and wildlife before making our way to another lovely beach where we had some time to snorkel while Atti laid out a freshly prepared lunch for us which was as equally scrummy as the flapjack! After lunch we paddled over to a smaller island where the beach was all made up of broken pieces of coral which was really amazing, Unfortunately the day then had to come to an end, but what a wonderful day it was. Definitely a trip worth doing, Atti and David can't do enough for you, they were both so friendly and welcoming, if we'd have had more time we'd have loved to have done either their 3 or 7 day camping trips, one to do in the future!
It is an efficient operation and you have to be prepared to help gear up and launch the kayaks - should be assumed really. Kayaks in good condition and great gear to go with it. Went out on a day trip to Dunk Island and had a fabulous time.

Thank you so much for your lovely review, we are very glad that you both enjoyed your experience out on the water with us. David and Michelle take great pleasure in showing off our beautiful islands and coastline here in the tropical north, as well as cooking up a storm in the camp kitchen. David and Michelle love to create their delicious meals whilst camping on the islands beaches. We will hope to see you both again, perhaps on our Hinchinbrook Island trip. Warm regards David and Attie
We have just returned from the last seven day trip of 2012, along east coast of Hinchinbrook Island, then island hopping for several days to Mission Beach. The trip was perfect, bright sunny days, light winds, warm swimming/snorkeling, sleeping sheet only nights. Wild life seen included turtles, dugongs, dolphins, goannas and sea eagles. Our guides were Dave and Atti, very experienced, great conversationalists, both with an infectious love and lore of the local area and nature. Meals were excellent, fresh and varied. Spending each night on a different wilderness beach was very special.
