lake bullen merri

As part of our stay at Camperdown we did the visit the local scenery first deal.And what scenery they have. A magic lake, clear and just such beautiful setting. Its a real pity that the clowns who fish the lake have to leave or jettison their junk around the place. Nothing worse than seeing the pigs wreck such a tranquil and peaceful spot. Im told it fishes well but didn't have a chance to wet the line due to poor weather, but hey there's always the next time. The trip around the top and over into the crater is really breath taking. Too think that these were active only 12-14000 years ago, really makes the current "climate change" laughable. Humans really can be dumb!

We had to attend a funeral memorable for a Lovely man, they held it at the Golf Coursewhich has beautiful views over the Lake.

Love the lake. Great for swimming on a hot day.Be careful if you have young kids as the lake drops off sharply!!You used to be able to drive around the entire lake but sadly the access has been cut due to arguments over road maintenance as it runs through private land. Hopefully it will reopen in the future as there is a lovely lookout on the other side of the lake

Lovely view and our dog enjoyed swimming in the lake (on a long leash).Bathroom facilities and lots of people picnicking.

You can swim, fish, BBQ, picnic, walk amongst the bush setting on the north side. Beautiful deep water lake.

We had a great time scratching around for zircons. Never done it before and found it addictive. Once you find one you have to keep hunting!!!

Drove up the hill just out of town and the road wound down the a crater lake. You would not know it was there except for the sign posts. worth a look.

Lovely quiet spot the day we went. Barbecues available and lots of seating, ideal for a picnic on a sunny day. BYO food as there is nothing there.

A great spot to take time out and catch up with phone messages great picnic area and well maintained toilets.

Lake Bullen Merri is a hidden gem just out of Camperdown. The volcanic like is perfect for swimming and my young nephews enjoyed wading out into the water from the south beach. One thing to be careful of with little ones is the sudden drop as the water does get very deep. The park area is well maintained and this is a great spot to picnic and relax.

We often vist this lake, we water ski on it through the warmer weather. It is an old volcano and can be quite refreshing on a stinking hot day! A lot of people fish in it.. I'm not a fisherman so I don't know what fish are in it, although there is a sign at the BBQ area that tells you information on the the lake and fishing.. Oh and take the aeroguard the flies can be very friendly on hot days!
