walkabout apiaries

I regard this as a 'hidden gem' because it is not located on the main strip of shops. My friends and I almost gave up looking for it, and I am glad we didn't. Walkabout is situated off the main road (approx 300m drive from the shops?). We love this place. The owners were warm and welcoming (we experienced a pretty cold shop owner on the main strip before that who did not even bother introducing us to her products when we stood in front of the sample table and trying to figure out which is which). Walkabout is really generous with letting you try their range of honeys, and they took the time to explain how each variant was harvested. My favorite is the Red Gum Honey - highly recommended. We brought a jar back, let it sit on the shelf for a few months before indulging in its full flavour. This place is not-to-be-missed if you are a fan of good quality honey. I will be stalking them at markets once our jar of honey is down to it's last drop!
