I just dropped in because i saw the main gate was open. I'm not a massive fan of cooler climate shiraz in Oz, but this (2012 shiraz) has caused me to rethink. While its not a fruit driven beast its balance at this stage is very very good. The owner grows the fruit, crushes the fruit and sells the wine at a very down to earth establishment. The bluestone cellar is one of the most picturesque you will find. What you see in the owner is what you get, loads of honesty. At $45 for a bottle of shiraz it aint cheap, but nothing good is. You wont see the year in year out price increases at this vineyard. Well worth a visit on the first Sunday of the month.
lovely family, fabulous wine, not at the cheap end but worth every penny. Buy a couple, one for now and one to keep.
Craiglee is a boutique winery on the edge of the village of Sunbury. The winery itself is small and rustic and its one of the wineries where you can chat to the winemaker as you taste as it is pretty much a one family show. Craiglee are most well known for making outstanding Shiraz as it has won awards internationally.Check that they are open before you make the trek out however.
A lovely, historical area. You don't need to just be passing through, it is well worth a visit.
