These guys really know how to run fabulous exhibitions. While the gallery has an amazing collection of Victorian Era art related to its role as a gold mining town, it has turned its curatory skills to modern culture with events such as wedding gown and Grace Kelly exhibitions. It has also displayed world war 1 photos by local residents. Incredible breadth and context.

A significant number of rooms were closed as the gallery gears up to showcase a Ned Kelly exhibition, but the remaining rooms are well curated and have a good range of Australian and International art, showcasing paintings and artefacts.We didn't visit the cafe at the back of the gallery, but you could certainly hear it - the sound echos down the corridor and into the main gallery space - which for some may be annoying when they're hoping for quiet time looking at art.Gift shop is small but well appointed with good souviners, ceramics and gallery guides available for purchase.

Beautiful gallery spaces, cleverly curated. The surrounding park sets a beautiful atmosphere. Keep an eye on the visiting exhibitions, but also drop in from time to time just to check out the collection.

great collection, beautifully manicured gardens, well worth the visit! don't forget to climb up the tower and view the town.

We deliberately visited Bendigo for this gallery. It is wonderful, and has a great restaurant. So good - GO!

This just has to be the best regional art gallery in Australia. From Ben Quilty to Brett Whitely, Tom Roberts to Arthur Boyd. A wealth of master pieces.

Very peaceful and quiet. Interesting painting and art collection for free.There are lot of gallery around there, wish I had more time to visit them.

Come and immerse yourself in BENDIGO's beautiful Art Zgallery. Throughout the year there are special exhibitions from around the world. Tickets for these events can be purchased next door at the Capital Theatre box office. The main gallery is free to enter but donations are gratefully received as you exit or enter from View street entrance. View masters from bygone era's and recent modern art exhibits.

This gallery is world class and the variety ensures that there is something for every taste. The only draw back is time, because you need at a minimum of two days, but more is better to really see and appreciate the full value.

Its a nice place to go for a variety of yummy types of food with nice coffee. Also only a walk next door to the Art Gallery.

My sister and I went to see the Ben Quilty exhibition and loved it. The photography exhibition Remain in Light was very interesting as well. I particularly liked the documentary photographs. It is a beautiful gallery and we enjoyed our visit very much. The staff are a delight as well.

A great collection of Artworks, The Ben Quilty exhibition was showing during our visit a great display/ Overall well worth the visit and time would put on the must do list.

Great permanent collection, varied and interesting exhibitions. Beautifully curated. Worth a visit if you're in town. Some of the visiting exhibitions have an associated fee. Discounted if you are a friend/member of an affiliated gallery (eg NGV)

We are very lucky in Bendigo our art gallery has some amazing exhibitions which they showcase for our city. My daughter and I enjoyed Undressed a display of 350 years of underwear in fashion in 2014. currently they are showing Ben Quilty's exhibition my nephew came up especially from Melbourne to see Ben's work. I look forward to enjoying more displays at the gallery.
