Fascinating little patch of mangroves on the edge of the inlet and reclaimed mining area. Great for bird watchers and a fun part of the circuit

It would be nice to see some cafe's or more seating in the area, lovely to walk through and quite often see the birdlife.

We did this walk twice whilst in the area. Close enough to the town and easy walking. We saw quite a few birds and very few people! Not really the sort of place you would take toddlers unless they are in a pushchair. Take water on a hot day. Boardwalk is in excellent condition.

It's a small but wonderful mangrove and wetland where is so close to the Bunbury town centre. The walk and cycling path is very nice, some improvement work are undergoing though. There's not much signs to guide you about the direction but the information board regarding the birds, nature and history are quite informative. A bit noisy on the main boardwalk as it's very close to a main road but the inward walk it quite peaceful. Sometimes you can spot some dolphins in the water too !

Small mangroves, most of the water is gone in summer, but took some cool pictures at sunset here with the city in the background, nice little walk (allow 30mins) I'd bring a bike, some nice paths. You can rent a bike nearby with two seats for couples. (Beware flies)

Great for people who love nature, good information along the trail. Take your time to spot all the birds, look into water see all the breeding fish. Easy walk, mainly flat a couple of steep but short inclines. Great walk if you go all the way around the inlet which includes a short section of quiet street walk it is 5.25 ks

Walking around the park, very natural with lots of birds to see, including hides to sit quietly. At one end has playground for kids. Good for a jog before heading to the beaches

I was told to expect lots of birds by the Visitor Centre, and the informaiton boards gave plenty details, But I only saw 1 egret!! The whole area was very quiet. There is a boardwalk through the mangrove, but there was nothing special to see.

Mangrove area is a peaceful place where members of the public can enjoy bird watching as the area is known as the home for many species of waterbird. The best time to enjoy the place is in Spring or Autumn otherwise it will be too hot if you visit in Summer. Make sure you wear a hat and bring bottle of water. Enjoy the peace of the Mangrove Boardwalk.

a little disappointing as it was the wrong time of year. the weather once again came into play as to the experience. would like a little more info as to what may be around...I have been to mangroves in NSW and knew what I was looking at, was explaining the way mangroves work to my partner

Great family walk, you can walk right around the inlet, you start / Park at the Entertainment centre, about half way round you will come across the Happy Wife Restuarant for coffee etc, or next door there is the Pub - both overlooking the inlet.

We walked the boardwalk and felt underwhelmed. We saw the managroves, read the information and managed to stagger back to Bunbury exhaused from the heat, very little shelter on the walk, take your own water

The Mangrove Boardwalk is an interesting and peaceful place to visit. It adjoins the site of an historic wreck and a holiday and camping village. It is the most southern mangrove swamp in Western Australia and provides a refuge for quite a large number of birds and small fish. It extends for about 200 metres and information signage along the walk. For the fit person it is well within walking distance of Bunbury.City and offers a place of solitude and reflection.

The boardwalk is a really relaxing spot in Bunbury considering you have the busy Koombana drive right next to you and you can't hear it.This walk is only about 15min long if you take your time so don't expect a real walk experience with this.If you just need a little break from the noise of the city, enjoy a relaxing time there for a few minutes. If you come for a proper walk, I would suggest to start with the mangrove boardwalk then to head on the boardwalk next to the Koombana Drive and keep walking all the way around the Leschenault Inlet. The whole part is relaxing and enjoyable. It takes about 1 hour if you take your time.

I was looking for something to do in Bunbury with my 2 year old which wouldn't cost me much or anything at all. I thought that we could go out on the mangrove boardwalk, see some wildlife, take a few pictures have some lunch, learn some new things and have some fun. I remember going there when I was younger and loved it. When I arrived, the car park was all fenced off. No where possible to get in. A huge carpark and no way to get to it. There were no signs anywhere stating what was going on whether I was allowed there or not. Off on the side was another fence with a gate that was pushed open. So I drove through it onto the gravel area and parked my car. It was deserted. There was no one insight. Didn't think much of it so I got my daughter out. We walked up to the lookout boat and started climbing the stairs. I could see that someone had roped the stairs off midway and someone had pulled it down. So for safety we didn't continue on up to the lookout. We went down to the boardwalk instead. A lot of the wooden planks on the board walk where loose and some of the railing was broken and dangerous. So I decided for the safety of my two year old it was best not to continue. We went back to the car and went home again. The mangroves are a beautiful Eco system and it was a shame we could not walk out around it. Maybe they are doing an upgrade on it but by the looks of things it doesn't seem that way. There has been no sign of work there in a long time. And if they had closed it down from visitors there were no signs in stating it and the dangers there. Another well done to Bunbury for letting a great, FREE, tourist attraction go to waste. I would not waste the fuel in going there. Unless they do do an upgrade on it in the near future.
