eagles heritage wildlife centre

This was our first stop on our trip to Margaret River & well worth the time. It is wonderful to see these beautiful birds being rehabilitated back into the wild. It was a leisurely walk around and we were shaded by the big trees. Definately a must if you have an interest in wildlife.

The Wildlife Centre was very interesting and was full of eagles, owls and other exotic birds (and the one snake!). Really have to go and watch a show; got the chance to have a photo taken with an owl and learned a lot whilst enjoying the displays made by the swooping kites. Easily worth the money, especially to help a place like this continue to do their important work.

Unique place in this region. Get up close to some birds that can be difficult to see in the wild. Worth the cost of stopping here. A good cause to support a place that looks after injured magnificent birds of prey that would otherwise have few places to live.

Our second visit - still amazing second time round!

This is an educational and informative adventure. The flight display of the Black Kites is definitely worth seeing! Added bonus is an option to have a Barn Owl stand on your arm so you can see up close this magnificent bird. The bush walk through the park to see other species of eagles and raptors is also great.

The birds are amazing. The place is quite small and deserves to be better-known. Make sure you call ahead to catch the flight display.

We were recommended to go here, so we did, at quite short notice. So very glad we made the 1100 show. It was a hot day, and apparently, if it is too hot for the 1330 show, the birds just sit in the trees. The man who presented the owl, and the Hawks was exceedingly knowledgeable. It was amazing to have the common barn owl on my wrist. After the presentation, almost an hour, with the talk, the birds, and everyone having the owl on their arm!!! It was a hot day, I would recommend hats and water, and joggers. My hubbie and I wNderedthe grounds for about another hour and a half, finding aviaries that I doubt most people would be bothered to find. We say a sooty owl, some white chested sea eagles, and so on. It was exceeding hot, but so well worth the trick, further than the short path. The sanctuary is in a wonderful area near Margaret River. It is pricey, however, to we two, well worth every cent.

Next to Xanadu wines is the Eagles Heritage wildlife centre. This centre does an amazing job of rescuing injured birds and breading endangered ones. It is set in tree filled grounds that feels like your in the australian bush, which of course attracts wild australian birds. Not only can you see many species of raptors and other birds in large aviaries where they have the space to fly, twice a day they give a wonderful display/demonstration of eagles flying freely catching their food mid flight. Many of the visitors, including myself, had the wonderful experience of having a large owl sitting on their (gloved) hand which was truly amazing. The demonstration/information session was not only educational but because of the guys great personality was fun too. This centre is well worth the reasonable cost of entry and as they don't receive any government funding so you entry fee helps keep this centre open enabling them to continue with their great work.

The guy who conducts the raptor free flight displays here really knows his stuff and is passionate about understanding and preserving raptors. The walking trail through the "passive" displays is also fascinating. Either is worth the entry price.

I first visited here in the 90's....they are amazing at what they do. We should all go and support them in their bid to look after our wildlife.Our government should be very ashamed regardless of political agenda.

After completing our visit to the Xanadu winery, we came across,a signboard saying "Eagles Heritage. Our first impression was that it did not look very impressive and assumed that the place was not very good.However, we still decided to give it a try and it was a great decision. Please don't let the looks of the place fool you. This is not a bird park but a place where sick or injured birds of prey are brought to be nursed backed to health and freed back later to the wild when they have healed. Those that stay behind are usually birds that have never make a full recovery for different reasons. Birds that are bred here are also released back into the wild after they have been trained to live independently in the wild.The owner, Philip,was very friendly and taught us many facts about birds of prey [e.g. facts about the hunting skills of owls]. At the flying displays, a show that runs twice a day at 11.30am &1.00pm. We were fascinated about information provided about the birds and were amazed by the show itself which had eagles and kites flying freely about. My personal favorite was having,Ivy,a Barn Owl sit on my arm. Do not miss this show!!!Although the place it is a bit worn out,the place was still very nice and educational. Phillip speaks with great interest and there is no doubt he is full of passion for the birds. He runs the entire compound with his wife and we were told that he has done this for 26 years now. Overall,we had a whale of time at Eagles Heritage and highly recommend the place to nature-lovers. This is definitely the highlight of our entire trip and we hope that Phillip can soon find some one to assist him and eventually carry on the great job.

The guy that owns this place and does all the free flight demonstrations is so great and knowledgeable. It's a really interesting and fun activity for wildlife lovers of all ages.

Good attraction but the owner needs funding to keep going.Don't be shy with the wallets folks we could lose one of the best attractions in the region.

The show, run twice a day, was worth more than the admission cost. While these were wild birds we were treated to some real showmanship I've rarely seen for years. It was interesting to hear the birds in the coups were either sick and being cared for before release or were unable to be released due to their injuries. Sad but at least they have a life. Amazing place in need of TLC so get out and support the centre.

Visited the centre during our recent visit to Margaret River. We took a bush walk around and visited the various exhibits before proceeding to the 11am show. Our young boys and us had a great time with the flying display, we also had the opportunity to have a barn owl step onto our arm, albeit with a thick glove, to have a closer encounter. What stood out mostly is the knowledge and passion of the handler with regards to birds of prey. It was a informative and entertaining time for us.
