We were in Loja during Carnaval, which is a very important, festive holiday in Ecuador. The park was full of picnicking families enjoying Carnaval pranks (spraying shaving foam on each other, throwing water, flour and occasionally, raw eggs at each other). They did not throw anything at me, I'm happy to report. There are pavilions with symbolic buildings from other lands - a Thai Pavilion, a re-creation of Moscow's Red Square, etcetera. There are also big statues showing different indigenous tribes in traditional dress, and thatched-roof buildings typical of indigenous villages. Lots of things for children and families to do.
Parque Recreacional Jipiro's over ten hectares of greenspace along the river provides a beautifulpark oasis theme park featuring something for everyone. It is very unique providing a multi-cultural tour with a colourful assortment of scaled models of world famous monuments in natural surroundings. Replicas of the Eiffel Tower, a middle age castle, Buddhist shrine, Big Ben, Japanese pagoda, Hansel & Gretle cottage, & Incan pyramids provide children's playgrounds and are enjoyable for the young-at-heart. A pretty lake with beautiful swans, ducks, geese, and flamingos, and river channels offer a relaxing pedal boat experience. Even though the attractions are not new, and require a little paint or TLC it is still enjoyable. Admission is now free.An extensive network of trails for walking, hiking, jogging, cycling, or rollerblading alongside grazing sheep, cows, horses, and chickens. Sporting facilities for soccer, outdoor excercise gyms, indoor swimming pool, basketball & volleyball courts, tennis, frisbee, athletics, aerobics, yoga, and a large skateboard & BMX park with a full pipe. Other activities include horseback rentals, bicycle rentals, flying kites, picnicing, playgrounds, people watching, strolling in the sun, reading under a big shade tree.
Parque Recreacional Jipiro is really fun and unique. In this large park you will find a colorful assortment of castles, a Buddhist shrine and a Japanese pagoda. There is a pretty lake with beautiful swans and other waterfowl. You can hike along the river path for quite a while and run across grazing horses, cows and chickens. The walking path is also a bike trail and you can rent bicycles at the south end of the park. We visited on a weekday as we heard that the park can become quite crowded on weekends. Don't miss it when in Loja.
It's a bit of a surprise that this park is top of things to do in Loja, but then again there really isn't much to do here anyway. It took about an hour to walk there from our hostal, and then about twenty minutes to walk around the park itself. If we had kids, it probably would have been great fun for them, as there were a few things for them to do, but as a couple it got boring quite quickly.Ultimately we should have gone on a tour of the local national park in Loja but we weren't organised enough. So my advice is not to go out of your way to see this, but it's not so bad that I'd recommend you avoid it completely.
This is a lovely, family-centered location. Pleasant paths for walking, the people of Loja are friendly. You can use a pedal-boat on the lagoon, where there are ducks, swans and some flamingos on the island. Food is available and sometimes local artizans will have their handicrafts available for a reasonable price.
Wonderful experience! There's this mini boats that you go on and paddle. The place is big to just walk around and there were places to buy "hand made" jewelry... What I loved the most was riding the horses. We paid .50c each and got a 10min ride. I have never went horseback riding and was afraid, but the horses are well trained.
Well,I think this place is very important to visit in Loja. It is recommended to go in the morning on weekend because it will be crowdy and you will feel more secure. There are points where you can eat, buy handicraft, do exercise or simply rest. Ooops, didi I mention that it has replicas of several World wonders? This makes this park amazing to take several beautiful photos! Don't forget to stand by to see the ducks swimming in the lake (but ypu can't feed them =( )
even this is not the biggest in dimension, and even its distraction are not new, this park drives you to an imaginary trip to other cultures.
Laid back and relaxed is what this park is about. There are a few things to do, including seeing the animals and birds, the water paddle-boats, etc.
If you are in Loja you need to visit this park. Its fun for the kids and you can people watch while eating from any one of the many carts located in the park.
The picktures on comercial look much better than it is. The artistic level of simulations is very low...
There's not a lot to do on Sunday but this park was a pretty awesome trip. We walked there from our hotel in about 30 minutes. It was like a little Epcot and is worth a walk around. There is a little river through the park, ostriches, horses, a llama, and plenty of child sized models of world landmarks. Stop for a cold drink before walking back.
Big park with many activity options; I recommend the horse ride and the water bubble balls that kids can play in.
We visited on a rainy day and the park was almost empty. The park reminded me of Small World or Epcot as they had playgrounds and buildings designed to take you around the world. An Eiffel Tower, middle age castle, Russian church, Japanese pagoda, and others. The slides come right out of the buildings. A great walk with lots of photo opportunities. There is also a very large skate board park with a full pipe, soccer fields, basketball courts, and a glass enclosed large swimming pool. Check the photos I have posted. Well worth the time. This park is probably more fun to visit on a nice day when it is full of children playing.
Desde que lo conocí hace 5 años ha cambiado un poco, necesita mejor mantenimiento, pero sigue siendo un buen sitio para visitar con familia.
