I had such an amazing time in Yopal. I love travelling, but am an off-the beaten track kinda girl. I was super curious about visiting this part of Colombia. It's crazy that it's not made it to the major guides yet - but in a way that made it all the better. It's genuine. It's not perfect perfect - do you want it to be? - rather, it's perfect in a dusty, hot, earthy, real kind of way. If you come, I urge you to follow Julia's and Andres' footsteps down to the little tranquil river for the best of baths, up the foothill of the Andes for stunning vistas, back down via a plunge in the waterfall, out to the ranch where you can be a gaucha for a day (my dream come true!!!), try all the amazing fruit, and do NOT miss tasting the best barbecued meat ever: the carne llanera. Also - these two are fabulous hosts. Do check their place out for a really unique glimpse into Colombia.

Yopal is a part of Colombia unfamiliar even to colombians, and a great surprise to those who dare visiting it. A country for colombian cowboys, los llaneros, with amazing sightseeing, roasts for dinner, wild fruits growing in the yard and of course good coffee. This is the least you get when yo travel to the district of Cazanare where Yopal stands and the territory known as Llano starts. If you add the charm and care that Andres and Julia add to your visit in order to show you the best of this land you can be sure you will have a great time.
