What should be a lovely " Rambla " by the river has suddenly become dirty and unsafe . The Municipality seems to have forgotten this place !
Great place to ride a bike on Sundays. But go early if you want to avoid crowds... It's a pity the river is polluted right now....
We took a ride with my cousin; the costanera is ver nice but they need a lot more trees, bushes and flowers. They need to mow the lawn more frequently and they should not allow unsanitary vendors on the costanera. The avenue start in General Santos, the view there is ver poor because they had allow the building of horrible looking card boards settlement.
Costaneras are fashionable in Paraguay and every respectful city on a river has its own. The Asunción's one is still work in progress but gives a different perspective to the city, which was previously inward-oriented only. Nice drive...
the river on one side is polluted and the favelas on the other side are not the best scene in the world. What I appreciated is to see a lot of people cycling. They even rent bikes
The city of Asuncion closes the Costanera to vehicle traffic on weekends which turns it into a delightful area to walk, bike, rollerblade, or just hangout. There is a crummy beach, but it is nice to walk along the water. The City is also improving the area in general and adding infrastructure / parking, etc.
You could pretty much see the Cathedral, Theater, Government Palace, Legislative building ,and Avenida Costanera in one day. Avenida Costanera is by far my favorite place to visit in Asuncion. It was only four blocks from my hotel (Gran Hotel Armele). I could go there everyday and enjoy watching the boats and small-size ferries cross the Asuncion Bay along with other Naval activity since the the Asuncion port is in close proximity. A must see and definite highlight in the city of Asuncion and if you would like a city tour of Asuncion, contact Martin Travel website http://www.martintravel.com.py/ and email: incoming01@martintravel.com.py. Happy Travels!!!
We went a month after the big floods and still the area on the other side was flooded. The idea of the project is ok but Paraguay is so hot that they should consider to plant trees all along the Costa Nera. They have bicycles for rent if you like to ride them and there were a couple of souvenir places and empanada street vendors, it was kind of empty. The river beach was all flooded too. It was very hot to walk around under the sun at 3.00pm in a winter August day!!!, but it is worthy to go see it.
It is a nice place to visit. Beautiful view of Asuncion. There is a beach as well but it should be cleaned, the water is full of plastics. Many Paraguayans also say one has to be careful in this area, that means it is not recommendable to take one's camera if one is alone. It could be a lovely place but it needs to be cleaned.
Lot of police, everything clean and a great view. Great place to do some outdoor sports. Worth the trip....
There is absolutely nothing to do there , no cafes no bars, no nothing. only good if you like to walk or bike ride,
Enjoy a nice walk or a bike ride. At the entrance, close to the Palacio de los Lopez there are bikes to rent. Nice to visit and relax for a few minutes. Take water with you.
After decades of projects the "Costanera" is open to public for walking, biking, and many other activities. Its a typical family attractions surrounded by historic Asuncion places.
No te debes perder.
