I love this place. I have never missed going here when I visit the wine country. First, the grounds are so gorgeous - lagoons, trees, flowers -all put you in a very tranquil mood. Lovely green area near Mendoza downtown.
I liked the fact that it was a huge space set out for nature, but there were lots of buildings and loud clubhouses throughout. Not enough air circulation to enjoy during the summer
Economy has not been kind to this large Park. Has lots of potential but really needs some maintenance and cleaning up. Nice to see people doing aerobics and playing. Hope they get some money to improve the grass, walks, lake, and gardens.
While we were waiting for our check-in to start at our hostel we walked around the Parque San Martin for around four hours. It was very nice, the tourist information even let us keep our backpacks there whilst we were strolling. The lake inside the park is really nice and there are people everywhere selling ice-cream, water, sandwiches, etc. so it offers a lot of reasons just to sit down and relax. We returned the next day and rented some bikes which was good but they don´t really give you a lot of information and one hour is not enough to be able to cycle a good route in the parque.A very nice place to spend some time on a sunny day.
San Martin Park is perfect in any season. Mountain biking is also popular and it is an excellent park for cross country training. The users are friendly and helpful. Recommended.
Not just a piece of art, this monument is exceptionally detailed and deeply symbolic, telling the story of San Martin and his rag-tag army that liberated Argentina, Chile and Peru from the Spanish.
This airy, palm tree circled park is open to everyone. The horse mounted statue of General Martin, a liberation hero, is just the right size for this roughly 400 feet by 400 feet park. The vegetation is luxuriant and provides plenty of shade if you want to sit quietly watching people go by. At night, you will catch whiffs of marijuana drifting in the air but the bystanders are pretty innocuous. It is pretty oasis in an already very green city.
This was part of our bus Tour of Mendoza. Enroute up the winding road we passes the 82 yr ole gentleman who runs the hill every day. The statute and it intricate detail is definitely an item to see when in Mendoza. The role of Generals San Martin and O'Higgins in the history of Souoth America is represented here.
The entrance gate has a very interesting history and is a very nice black smith work. It is worth wile to read and look. The park itself is a little shabby and need to be maintained. The lake inside is very dirty and filled of algae.
Loved the natural beauty of this huge park with big trees & tall African Palm trees, the landscape & views, the vines, the plants, even the 45 minutes- 30 pesos bus ride with a guide to get the know the historic place....but I can't understand why they don't maintain the place in better shape, why people throw trash everywhere instead of using trash containers & why they ruin the looks of their city with all kinds of graffiti! The surface of the water on the lake had a lot of trash!! Too bad!
After visiting many places in Mendoza, it was great to find this lovley green area. The atmosphere is calm with the artificial lake overlooking the rowing club. Well kept park and it is a great spot to drop by.
