I would not go out of my way to see it, but if you are walking into town it is right on your way..it's a good landmark
This is a very simple but striking statue at the end of the sea front which when viewed as the sun sets is beautiful
The mermaid is a nice statue that is alongside a beautiful seaside promenade. It is not something of any historical or literary significance but a nice sculpture.
We had lunch at the Hemingway Bar and then walked along the shore to what the locals seem to call "the girl". Delightful statue in a beautiful locale.
This certainly is an attraction. We visited Opatija when it was Yugoslavia and this is one of the things I remembered. It was celebrations for 170 years of tourism the weekend we departed the resort and they had the statue lit with different coloured lights
when you wander along the shoreside on the Franz-Josef-Promenade you can't miss her. Directly below the St. Jacob's Church you will see it. the maiden enjoys the view onto the water and the islands. So should you.
Positioned on a scenic point along the Lungo Mare, this statue has become synonomous with the town of Opatija. While I wouldn't make a special trip to see it, the location provides a opportunity to take some nice photos.
When strolling along the promenade, you cannot miss it. It is a nice landmark for both the place and the country. The view upon the sea is great from there and you can even watch live forms coming to feed on the shore.
This statue can been seen from many places in Opatija and has been photographed many times. It has impact and is linked with the history of the town and the Lungomare. It is worth a visit and some research into its history.
This is a lovely statue. As we wandered along the promenade one evening in May, after a huge hailstorm, we spotted the Maiden in the dark and cloudy distance. The backdrop of the grey sea provided a gloomy atmosphere, but the statue still made an impact. It's worth researching the very interesting history of this statue. A walk along the promenade is recommended, regardless of the weather. There are many beautiful old hotels and villas to admire, with very impressive architectural features.
This nice statue is located very near Lungo Mare street and is clearly visible from there. The statue does still got some charm of history in itself.
This was originally a Madonna but the Communists disapproved and a new statue was installed. The girl who modelled for it is still alive. It is a memorial to a girl who was lost at sea
Worth taking a walk by it. Opatija, like most southern cities, has its own atmosphere, so it really worth taking a walk along seashore.
You are going to meet this lady on your walk by the promenade. Actually, it is really nice - it offers a nice view, and behind the statue, there are some benches and a small park, where you can sit an relax with a great view. But still - it is just a statue on your walk! :)
Hard to miss while walking along the promenade. Great feature is the "Photospot". Press the button for 3 secs, then you have 10 secs to get into your pose. Your photo is then uploaded pretty much straight away to the Opatija riviera website. Great as a free little memento.
