the cultural center of aristotle's school

The place where Alexander the Great was tought by Aristoteles. The building was designed in such a way that totally fits in the surrounding forest.

It´s a place to visit if you are in the area. Even more interesting the archeological site outdoors and next to the center and the town of Naoussa with its wonderful red wine "xinimavro".

watched an informative video about this place and walked the beatiful surrounding grounds. Drank from the stream and shopped the inside store. Guide gave very intersting insight to this historical place.

During our 2-week visit to Greece, our visit to the Nymphaeum (also spelled Nymfaion) of Mieza stands out as one of the most inspiring moments. While the modern cultural centre and museum located across the street from the Nymphaeum was not open when we visited, the Nymphaeum itself was. There is no charge to visit and no barrier to access. There is a large paved parking lot next to it. An informative plaque at the entrance describes in Greek and English the incredible significance of this site, where Aristotle tutored Alexander the Great and other nobles of the Macedonian Empire. This and other plaques at the site have maps showing the locations of the structures of Aristotle's school. All that remains 2 millennia later are the ruins of massive columns, and caves that were integrated into the complex. There is still a quiet brook fed by natural springs under the trees, just as in Aristotle's day. One can almost picture the cavorting of the mythical nymphs after which the site is named! Aristotle considered nature, culture and education inseparable, and a more perfect location for his school would be hard to imagine. To stand on this site and know that it is the very same ground walked by these giants of Western civilization was an almost mystical experience. Nobody visiting the area should miss visiting this attraction.

wel, if you like some caves and nice country surroundings....go there, but you won't find much historical stuff that inspires you.

Πραγματικα συγκλονιστικο μεσα σε ενα καταπρασινο αγριο τοπιο υπαρχει η σχολη του αριστοτελη ειναι τεραστιο το μερος κ τοσο ενδιαφερον!! Απλα μαγευτικο να ξερεις οτι σ αυτο το σημειο διδασκε ο μεγαλυτερος φιλοσοφος τις ιστοριας και ενας απ τους μαθητες του που εμεινε 2 χρονια στην σχολη ηταν και ο μεγας αλεξανδρος! Αξιζει παρα πολυ!

Ένα από τα κέντρα της γνώσης. Τι άλλο να ζητήσει κάποιος που αναζητά αυτή τη διαδρομή; Ο Αριστοτέλης δίδασκε εδώ τον Αλέξανδρο. Το κέντρο της φιλοσοφίας του Δυτικού Κόσμου διδάχθηκε σε αυτό το μέρος. Με ένα σύγχρονο μουσείο και το Νυμφαίο το μόνο που μένει είναι να το επισκεφθείς.

Είναι συγκλονιστικό να πατάς στα ίδια χώματα που περπάτησαν ταυτόχρονα οι δυο μεγάλοι της αρχαιότητας ο Αλέξανδρος και ο Αριστοτέλης,ο πρώτος ως μαθητής του δεύτερου. Εξαιρετικό το ντοκιμαντέρ του P. Ollaya που προβάλλεται για την ενημέρωση των επισκεπτών του Πολιτιστικού Κέντρου.

un endroit très frais sur les bord d'une rivière. Plein de souvenirs. On aurait quand même pu mettre quelques indications pour guider les ignorants
