Beautiful setting. Walkable from Schwabisch Hall but be prepared for a steep uphill climb. It is worth it. Entry to the church only as part of a tour which is in German. Our guide did provide some English explanations to us, (We were 2 of the 8 people on the tour.)The tour emphasized the chandelier and the antependium, both of which are spectacular, but I wish more time had been allowed for other aspects of the church and for us to more closely inspect areas. Still worth a visit.

The Grosscomburg is a fortified monastery complex that sits high on a hill overlooking Steinbach and the town of Schwaebisch Hall. Recently refurbished, it dominates the local skyline day and night. It's bells frequently ring out over the local area and add to that feeling of timeless tradition and peaceful continuity so typical of old Germany. If you walk around inside the walls via the raised wooden walkway, you can easily imagine being transported back to the middle ages. The views are great too!

Definitely worth a visit! Make sure you check for opening hours before you go. The interior is even more amazing as the exterior. White stucco, gold painting, wonderful carvings. The church is home to many wonderful paintings. Wonderful setting, take your time and walk the grounds. Great for families, couples, singles. Visited several times over the past 40 years and I am still looking forward to visit!

This monastery is unique, a walled fortified monastery, actually a large church within a medieval castle. Just a pleasure to visit and revisit, and the large chandelier in the church is one of the few of this style. The monastery is open most of the time, but the church is used only a few times a year for holidays, and is not accessable by tour from Oct/Nov to Mar/Apr. This monastery is worth a visit just for itself, but then it also sits nextdoor to the lovely oldtown of Schwaebisch Hall and the excellent modern art Museum Woerth.

Only have seen the exteriour, as the church was still closed. Would open a few days later, but by then we would have been in Oberau. Pitty, as seen on pix at the internet it must be nice. We took the steeper chapelway (crossway), but there is a carparking and then it is not that steep. We had a stroll in Steinbach and it was already getting dark when we arrived at this place. I can oly comment the exteriour, and that is a A+. There is a museumspub where one has to start the tour of the interiour church. The Grosscomburg exists of multiple buildings. One can climb steps and stairs and towers, one can partially walk arround the Grosscomburg via the outside wall. There are benches, so it is nice to have tranquil moments and just sit there. If we will visit this region again, will definately visit Grosscomburg again. Kleincomburg (St. Aëgidiuschurch) is at the mountain across Grosscomburg, and one can see the panorama with this Grosscomburg. However, Tripadvisor would not list this, but that does not mean it is not worthwhile visiting.

Das Kloster ist etwas ausserhalb von Schwäbisch Hall gelegen, aber zu Fuss recht gut erreichbar. Leider war es am Montag zu. Eine Begehung des vollständig erhaltenen Wehrganges lohnt sich.

Смотрели достопримечательности, которые находятся не очень далеко от Ротенбурга-на Таубере и заехали в Швебешь-Халл, т.к. он был уже не первым в тот день, сам город смотреть не стали, а ограничились только Grosscomburg. Это укрепленный монастырь, но я скорее восприняла его как крепость основное место в которой занимает собор. К сожалению, все то время, что мы гуляли по стенам и по двору монастыря, собор был закрыт и великолепных интерьеров мы не увидели. Ну ничего, возможно приедем в Швебешь-Халл еще раз. Непосредственно к монастырю подъехать нельзя, пропускали только такси, но идти не далеко, а вот оставить машину была проблема, еле-еле нашли место на улочке неподалеку.А вообще очень понравилось!

シュベービッシュハルは、ミヒャエル教会が、有名ですがそれに負けない必見の場所です。この、もと修道院があるからこそ、古城街道に含まれているシュベービッシュハルで、ここを見ずに済ませるというのは、やはり、残念です！交通の便が、少し不便ですが、町の中心から歩いて行けない距離ではないので、元気な人は是非、散歩かたがた歩いて見てください。タクシーでも、8ー9€です。中を見学するのは、団体事前予約か、春から秋までは30分ほどのガイド付きの見学(現地申し込み)のみです。城壁から見る街並みは私のお気に入りです！

Imponente costruzione nei dintorni di Schwabisch, suggestiva per la posizione e le caratteristiche architettoniche.

Man kann eine geführte Besichtigung haben. Sehr interessant, vor allem, wenn man einen so tollen Kunsthistoriker als Führer hat wie Karl Moriz Gruenbauer! Er bringt einem die ganze Geschichte des Klosters so richtig lebendig herüber.

Im wunderschönen Kochertal liegt erhaben das Kloster GROSSCOMBURG - diese war lange Zeit nur den adeligen Mönchen vorbehalten. Ein langer Wehrgang umgibt das Kloster und ist für Jedermann begehbar. Schon allein den Radleuchter zu sehen, Umfang über 15 mtr. Aus vergoldetem und versilbertem Kupferblech gearbeitet, ist eine Reise wert.

Die Kirche mit ihrem Riesenleuchter, dem Antependium und ihrerArchitektur ist großartig, interesssant auch die Sechseck-kapelle sowie die Gesamtanlage und die exponierte Lage. Die meisten Gebäude dienen der Lehrerfortbildung des Landes B-W und können nicht besucht werden.

Die Wände dieses Klosters bewahren viel interessantes. Die Geschichte des Klosters fängt am Jahr 1078 an, wenn die Burg Comburg in ein benediktinisches Kloster umgewandelt wurde. Im Jahr 1488 wurde das Kloster in ein adeliges Chorherrenstift umgewandelt. Im 19. Jahrhundert dient das Kloster als Sitz des Königlich-Württembergischen Ehreninvalidencorps. Am anfang des 20. Jahrhundert wurde hier die erste Heimvolkshochschule eingerichtet. In den folgenden Jahren wurden Bauhandwerker-und Steinmetz-Kurse abgehalten, in späteren Jahren diente die Comburg auch als Hitlerjugend-Heim und zuletzt als Kriegsgefangenenlager. Seit 1947 dient die Comburg wieder als Akademie zur Lehrerfortbildung.Was besonders kann man hier sehen? Es ist der Radleuchter in der Stiftskirche – ein aus insgesamt drei Radleuchter in Deutschland. Mit seinen 48 Kerzen ist er die einzige Lichtquelle in der sonst dunklen Kirche. Er stellt die himmlische Stadt Jerusalem mit ihren niemals stürzenden Mauern und Türmen dar, wie sie in der Apokalypse beschrieben wurde. Sein Wert wurde erst nach 1848 wieder entdeckt, als die den Radleuchter tragende Kette riss und der goldbronzene Farbanstrich abplatzte, mit dem man ihn 1570 zur Instandsetzung versehen hatte. Auf den Zwischenbändern sind 144 Pflanzenmotive zu sehen.Und natürlich Altar mit goldenem Antependium mit Edelsteinen von unschätzbarem Wert.
