The lot. The entire experience was fantastic. Warm and friendly service, best food, excellent rooms and facilities.
It's a wonderful drive, and offers mid-sized towns to small villages - as well as the Zuflucht look out point, the Lotharpfad and all sorts of wonderful views of the mountains of the Black Forest.
Fantastic scenic drive through the Black Forest. It's especially magical to drive with the sunroof down in summer as the tall trees loom over you! There are many places to stop to see the view, buy souvenirs, or take walks through the forest. The Mummelsee (small lake surrounded by trees at the top of one of the mountains) is a good stop for a bite to eat/coffee/souvenirs. In summer you can take a paddle boat or a rowing boat out onto the lake. Very romantic :) The views from this scenic road are simply breathtaking.
We drove from Baden-Baden to the Plattig parking lot to walk through the Schwarzwald National Park. Hard to believe this was only recently created as a national park!! We walked up the Wildnispfad trail, which was a good combination of wild terrain and open trails. Nice meadows, lovely valley views. Round trip to the parking lot was about 90 minutes. We then continued the drive along to Freudenstadt for lunch. The road was twisty in places so lots of motorcyclists, and fantastic views across to France on a clear day. There were lots of places to stop and eat along the way. Overall, a great day trip.
It is always nice to see a lot of trees. This drive lets you see trees on a slightly zig zagging road. And there is the Mummelsee which is midway. This is a lake in the midst of the mountains. It must be prettier when the trees are covered with snow.
Always worth a detour and taking your time is no hassle, there´s so much to see and a stop at one of the numerous cafés for an afternoon cup of coffee and a lsice of local cake is not to be missed.
My wife comes from this area, so we know the walks, theTourist shop on mummelsee can be costly, but the Restaurants are not over priced.
Nice scenic route with great views, but also good restaurants and hiking trails along the route. Avoid weekends, as traffic can be slow.
Visit Allerheiligen with its intriging monastery ruine and impressive waterfalls. Also the gletsjer lake Mummelsee is worththe detour
We traveled up to Baden Baden on a very cloudy day, but the brakes in the clouds offered beautiful views.
A delightful drive through the highlands of the Black Forest. Worth the detour. Thousands of motorcycles on the road on a summer day...
Stunnuing views! The flora was spectacular with many species of wild flowers everywhere. a real joy.
Being on a motorcycle is the way to experience it.
The Schwarzwald Hochstrasse is certainly a beautifull scenic route with lots of curves and under normal circumstances I would certainly enjoy a sporty ride along it. But as it happened I was there with my wife and two young children, when lots of fresh snow was falling from the sky. So even with winter tires I choose to very carefully (read slowly) guide my rear drive BMW over the slippery road.
...auch im Winter bei schönem Wetter und mit dem Auto ist die Schwarzwald-Hochstrasse eine Reise wert
