Sea Life is a 'chain store' of aquariums owned by Merlin Entertainments Group. We went to the one at Speyer, Germany. At Speyer, you can expect to walk at least ten minutes from the parking lot at the Festplatz. It's a pleasant walk in good weather -- through the park. But the walkways in the park aren't paved, so expect huge mud puddles and sandy grit along the way if he weather is rainy. If you have been to other aquariums elsewhere, this one will not be impressive for you. In fact, the entire aquarium is VERY GLUM -- a tunnel through a brown stone cave -- no variety of appearance. The viewing windows for the sea life are mostly small. In many cases if three people are standing side-by-side, you will not be able to view the fish yourself, and you will have to wait until those viewers ahead of you move onward down the brown tunnel. This aquarium seems like it would be enjoyed mostly by children. There are interactive displays and questions for children (or adults) to answer in both German and English. There are small plaques with info tidbits about the fish in each tank -- the author has succeeded in making the tidbits simple to understand and pointed out some unique traits of the fish. There are special feeding times and special times for the children to be allowed to touch a few sea creatures. Your certainly should go online to www.sealife.de to see all the MANY different prices of tickets, and find the parking location for whichever SeaLife you choose to visit. Printing your ticket from online can save you a few Euros. All in all -- the place is small, dark, glum-looking, and could easily be miserable if it were crowded, as it was on the Saturday afternoon in the winter when we visited.

The kids enjoyed the place and the shark feeding time. The big turtle is also beautiful and adorable. Staff was available for the kids to ask questions and they speak very good English and of course German.

We are really disappointed; it took us less than one hour to see the whole thing, taking in consideration that we were with two kids and we were really slow. I've had seen more interesting see creatures in ZOO and museums (apart from the shark and the tortoise) ; and for those two we've paid ~ 50 euroSo, it's not worth seeing :(

It is very small, very dark, and there really isn't much to see or do. We went more than once, the first time my children were 3 and 5, before we went in we got a year pass, based on the great reviews we'd read. It was a mistake. The kids were bored in 30 minutes and wanted to go home. Since we did have the pass we went back again later in the year, the kids were still bored.A few other things, there is very little staff once you're inside, you can't find anyone. That being said the front desk staff is very nice, even if they do push the year pass on you.

Sea Life is very small, when we went my kids were around 4 and 5, they were bored within 20 minutes. This would be ok if it wasn't so expensive to get into. They do offer a year pass that lowers the price if you want to go back more than once but it's really so small that you don't need to go more than once.

A fantastic experience. Well laid out, friendly staff and lots to see. Buy a ticket online to save money and it is really good value for money. Children get a book to stamp as they go round and get a treat at the end for getting all the stamps. They also get a treat at the start. The gift shop and cafe are also well planned and the coffee surprisingly good! A great start to a day out in Speyer directly on the harbour.

The sea life Center is an attraction for all families with kids but from my point of view to walk alum the river Rhine is more impressive and not as much overpriced. Furthermore the place is packed.

We drove around Speyer for approximately 45 minutes trying to find this place. We finally found a VERY SMALL pedestrian sign (down from the Speyer Festplatz adjacent to Geibstraße) pointing in the direction of Sea Life. We finally found the aquarium and arrived inside minutes before 5:00 PM. We were lucky to get inside because although their website says they close at 6:00 PM, the staff there closes the entrance at 5:00 PM. With one hour left before closing, this was more than enough time to view this VERY SMALL aquarium. I am so glad we used our Merlin Cards to get in this place, because if we (2 adults and one six year old) would've paid full price we would've been highly disappointed. Also, the staff there is very rude. Save your money!

Looked quickly at their website and thought it was worth the drive. I bought our tickets on-line for a discount before I checked TripAdvisor reviews. Even with the discount, it was not really worth it. It was very crowded and felt like an assembly line of people looking at various tanks with different fish, but not too many variety of displays. No real hands-on for the kids, and limited explanation. Information that was provided was in English. We did manage to stretch it out for an hour, but only because we had to fight the crowd. Speyer is a nice city to visit, so adding the Sea Life to the trip would be okay.

This was one of those visits where my gut was telling me to take heed on the reviews posted but I figured if the kids enjoyed it just a little then it would be money well spent...WRONG.Even going after 3 for the discounted rate was not worth it. 2 adults, 3 kids and this was a complete waste! No one enjoyed it and we walked through that place in about 30 minutes (and that's giving it a few minutes). There was nothing fun or exciting for the kids and although the business raves on how big the tanks are thee weren't a whole lot of fish. And the snack bar closed down well before closing so the kids couldn't get snacks or drinks. Maybe I'm comparing it to what I'm used to visiting in the states but this was not enjoyable on any level. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

We had two vouchers, so 2 adults and to kids got in for EUR30. I would have been disappointed if I had spent much more. The exhibits were well laid out, but it was cramped and busy. Worth a visit if you have young children.

We came across some Kids free coupons at the Kino and decided to give this place a shot. We read the horrible reviews and though since the kids were getting in free, it was a good way to spend a Saturday. well it took us all of 45 mins to get thru the place. Very, very, very limited on the aquatic life they have there. They have a lot of fish, and that's about it. The kids got in free and we paid full price, 31e for 2 adults. Would not recommend unless you have coupon. On the plus side.... We got there pretty early and were able to get parking on the street and have great access to the Rhine. It was literally right there a few meters away. It's about a 10 min walk to the Cathedral, which is free to get in. It's absolutely beautiful! Across from the Cathedral is the shopping area with lots of shopping, restaurant's and street performers if you like that kinda thing. Also right across from Sea-Life is a river cruise boat. Only 10e-adults 5.50=kids. Will be back to Speyer for sure, but never to this place.

If you want to spend a great and romantic time with your partner - I would 100% recommend a special arrangement a Speyer Sea Life offers. We had a fantastic private tour, full of wonderful stories and interesting facts about the inhabitants of aquarium. The tour was followed with a romantic candlelight dinner right in front of huge aquarium with sharks. It really felt like having a dinner at the bottom of the ocean. Food was just amazing, on a really high level and nicely arranged. The evening can be easily arranged a little bit in advance. It was the greatest experience ever! Many thanks to the staff members of the SEA LIFE Speyer for helping to make such a wonderful evening possible!

When we planned our visit, I had anticipated an actual aquarium, much like many that I have previously visited. The location was very small, difficult to manage in the small walkway, and limited viewing of the sea life. The price of entrance is cheaper than many other local attractions, but not cheap enough to justify a return visit to this location. It was a nice supplement to our day, but not at all what I had expected.

Although there is a nice selection of species to look at, this aquarium is hardly worth the outrageous cash you hand out to get in the door. The crowds are worse than a traffic jam on the autobahn, and therefore it is often difficult to see anything at all. There were at least eight empty tanks the day we were here, and that is eight too many for the very small size of this place. The "grand finale" is two alligators. Wow. Not so much...
