This is a very quaint and picturesque street which gives an idea of what Ferrara must have been like in the medieval and renaissance periods. However, if you are already familiar with the characteristic narrow streets of the typical Italian city, and have only a few hours in Ferrara, there are more important things to see.

We cycled up (and down) this street - our bikes mostly managed on the cobbles! Owing to the town's excellent limitations on car traffic we could admire the street in all its calm beauty. Rosetti, Ferrara's great architect and town planner really understood the importance of creating a pleasing (and uplifting) street environment and townscape for the people to enjoy. The buildings, their arrangement, with trees and green spaces peeping through at intervals combine to make the street totally 'easy on the eye'. Modern day architects and town planners could learn a lot from Rosetti's principles.

What a superb walk - photographer's paradise! Walk the length, it is no rougher than other streets in Ferrara! Just superb area.

It's like to jump in the Medioeval Time thank's to the Onces that charactherized this road. It's one of the Most Ancient Medioeval road in Europe. Warmly Suggested for Art and Architecture Lovers.Assolutamente da vedere grazie alle sue volte Medioevali che la caratterizzano: è come fare un salto nel passato.Assolutamente da vedere per chi ama non solo l'arte ma anche l'architettura tipico del medioevo.

If you're in Ferrara you can't miss this tiny street. This is one of the most beautiful parts of this town. This street was there ten centuries ago and it still is untouched. Walking the original pavement under the arches built of red brick you can feel the atmosphere of old times. Bicycles and small restaurants make it even more beautiful.

A picturesque street that gives a wonderful impression of how it must have been in mediaeval times, and merchants' houses on one side were linked to their warehouses and showrooms on the other. Probably an occasion to bring out your cameras.

This was supposed to be the most medieval street in Ferrara, and I know this sounds very exciting and it is the truth but actually it was a bit of a boring street.. and even dirty. Well you can take a lovely picture in it but that's about it.

Very old buildings connected by arches. Cobblestones as road, so very bumpy with a bicycle! But nice to have seen.

Its is definitely a nice place, a kind of unique perspective in Ferrara, BUT ... it is not so clean, and walking through its cobblestones is quiet uncomfortable. Thus, a quick view is OK, but it is not the Top Attraction of Ferrara.

Since our arrival on 1 Febbraio we have daily walked of ridden our bikes down this medieval road with curving archways connecting the north and south sided buildings. You truly feel time stood still.

We visited Ferrara on something of a whim and came upon this street almost by accident. We were so impressed. The street is a cobbled alleyway almost with many arches over it. We were here in winter and as we almost had it to ourselves it ourselves and it was incredibly easy to let the mind wander and imagine the street in medievel times. It is a bit unkempt, and obviously a favourite for dog walkers, but it's one of our highlights of our visit to Ferrara.

Ferrara is one of mine favourite cities: every time I can I go for this city. I love the medioeval map of the city, the Castle, the traditions of Ferrara, and , I must confess also the food of Ferrara (you just try the Salama da Sugo with purè (mashed potatoes)). Via delle Volte is the most ancient "Via" that you can walk in Europe. It's called like that due to the architecture.Rent a bike and go around: you'll love Ferrara!

Such a beutiful steet, it takes you back in history and makes you want to live right there. Some bars and restaurants are located here. Nice to walk along the street and enjoy the city.

Via delle Volte is the most ancient lane in Ferrara. The vaults giving the name to the lane are the connctions between the old merchant shops and their houses. In the ancient time, the houses were located right on the embankment (now disappeared) of the river harbor. Notwithstanding it is a little bit smelly, the lane is worth to be seen.
