On the road to Olomouc you will pass by a small airport,a nice logo of a plane over the czek colors will indicate the Letecke Muzeum. This is a shed of passionates men and woman who present in a cold war dating building ,airplanes from the 50'.The ones who will demonstrate a real interest will be greeted will passion by these persons ,will hear good stories and will have access to almost all the cokpits. But they speak german and no english. If you can have a english speaking with you will be better, but between passionates, you will have or guess all the answers.A great and very unusual experience!
On it's own, this museum is too small to be a primary reason to go to Olomouc. However, if you like aircraft and are in the area, it's quite worth visiting. It can be accessed by two tram lines and about eight minutes of walking. The museum is currently accommodated in a rather run down hangar which needs a lot of work. The exhibits themselves are a selection of former Czech air force aircraft, plus a couple of civil aircraft, in various states of restoration. This does offer an interesting insight into the state some aircraft can be in before restoration begins.I can only give it an average rating at the moment, due to the condition of the building it's in, but hopefully it will receive enough support to either improve the building or find better lodgings elsewhere on the airport. They do a good job with what they have to work with, so they definitely deserve support.
