We had just walked out of the neighbouring coffee shop (also very good with English spoken) and noticed the door of the apothecary open. The lady was just starting a tour (in Czech) but we were welcome to join (for a fee). She handed us sheets about the place in English and also pointed out some of the more interesting things to us in English.It is a fascinating place and it even has live leeches on display!No photographs are allowed inside.Definitely worth a visit if open.Opening hours:May-Oct: daily except Mondays 0900-1200 & 1300-1700Nov-Apr: by appointment

This was my first visit here even I pass thru Klatovy pretty often. What a great surprise. Not just very nice historical interior but also big fun with the guids speaking some extra stories. I am only not sure if the same fun could be in another language than czech. Try it.

Barokní lékárna U Bílého jednorožce. “At the White Unicorn”, a unique baroque pharmacy. The former pharmacy can only be visited by guidetour, which is really outstandin and top notch! The guide provides lots of info, tell about its history and stories with so much passion that it seems one is part in its history. All given, not with a fake smile as we have seen so many times, but a smile and friendlyness right from the heart. A must see when visiting Klatovy! The White Unicorn Baroque apothecary is situated in the square in a house of Klatovy pharmacists. The unique Baroque interior was created by the Jesuits for their own apothecary within the order college. After the order dismission in 1773 the equipment was sold to the local pharmacist called Firbas, who transferred it in his house. During the tour inside visitors can follow the development of pharmacy from its beginning to 1966, when the apothecary finished its public service. White Unicorn Gallery: Gallery of contemporary art was founded 1990. The gallery is one of the largest contemporary art museums in the Czech Republic. Taking pix of the interior is prohibited, postcards of its interior are for sale.

Avevamo letto di questa chicca di klatovy, ma siamo stati fortunati nel trovarci al momento giusto in cui iniziava la visita.Personale gentilissimo che consegnatoci piccola ma dettagliata spiegazione in italiano si è prodigata anche nel cercare il più possibili di rendere comprensibile la visita, nonostante parlasse poco italiano.Visita molto interessante e da consigliare assolutamente.

Siamo stati in questa antica farmacia ad agosto 2014 durante la nostra visita alla cittadina di Klatovy.Non ci sono guida in italiano, ma vi verrà consegnato un foglio con alcune informazioni in lingua italiana e poi la guida ceca, gentilmente vi fornirà alcuni dettagli per far vivere al meglio la visita.Molto interessante, sicuramente da vedere.

We vielen precies in een Tsjechische rondleiding. Meteen kwam er een supervriendelijke medewerkster met vertalingen en aanvullende informatie. Zéér behulpzaam.

Wir hatten Glück und bekamen eine exklusive Führung für uns zwei von einer überaus kompetenten, gut deutsch-sprechenden Führerin. Die Apotheke ist nahezu originalgetreu erhalten geblieben. Altes Intsrumentarium, zermahlene Insekten, Hölzer, Wurzeln, Chemikalien aller Art in alten Behältnissen aus Zinn, Holz, Porzellan und Glas. Gerätschaften zum Fertigen von Salben, Zäpfchen, Tabletten und Tinkturen einschließlich der in Spiritus eingelegte Bandwurm finden sich in der barocken Einrichtung. Insbesondere für Menschen mit medizinischen Kenntnissen ist die bis 1966 betriebene Einhornapotheke allemal ein Besuch Wert.
