The palace of Versailles and its gardens are an attraction not to be missed. The palace is beautifully restored; do not miss the historical Hall of Mirrors where the Treaty of Versailles was signed. The gardens are extraordinarily lovely. This palace is a reminder of the glory of the French dynasties. It is lovely and large and decadent all at the same time.

If you are going to Notre Dame for worship, I suggest you go elsewhere. I am not a pious person, but there are some things that were definitely off-puting to me.1: There is a gift shop in the Cathedral. You read that correctly. In one area of the Cathedral is a permanent booth that sells various Notre Dame trinkets. I understand the church needs to make a profit, but they have many donation areas. This should not be necessary. It comes off as hypocritical- didn't Jesus get upset when the temple was turned into a market?2: How does the church remind people to be quiet for the sake of people who are praying? They use a loudspeaker. (There are signs too, but those are inoffensive.)If you don't care about praying, everything the other people have said is true.

Beautiful both walking around outside and exploring inside! Went in the morning and it wasn't crowded at all!

My friend who had never been to Notre Dame before absolutely loved the service which we arrived in good time for, even though the queues were long. It did not take more than about 10 minutes to actually enter the church. The age and majesty of the interior is stunning, especially the beautiful stained glass windows. Cool, calm and even with lots of people inside, it was a joy to behond. I highly recommend it.

Not really a church person but walked around the church and enjoyed the surroundings and always interested in the stain glass windows

Loved the ornate features of the church, very impressive. The sheer massive of the total structure is lost until you walk the outside perimeter as well.

It's tall and gorgeous and right by the Seine- what is it? Notre Dame! And no, not the football team. This place is immensely gorgeous and very huge. You can light candles for people and walk around and see the beauty. :)

No visit to Paris is complete without a visit to Notre Dame. However, I found that the best parts of the cathedral are viewed from the outside. Walk around the base of the church to see the flying buttresses and the gargoyles. We went at closing time (when lines should have been short), and the line was still very long. The best feature to see from the inside is the stained glass. For me, it was a nice box to check off the list, but I enjoyed Ste. Chappelle (less than a quarter mile away) much more.

It was a rainy Sunday afternoon, so we decided to pop into the church to warm up. Lo and behold, it's a church commissioned by Louis XIV! Nicely heated up, we took our time wandering within it, appreciating the classical architecture, as well as the numerous treasures in the form of paintings and sculpture. And as mentioned by another reviewer, this place is free!

The line to get in gets long but moves quicker than expected. Beautiful and historic church. The treasury is amazing. It has a small fee, and it almost seems they downplay it. Not crowded at all. Jesus' thorn of crowns! Talk about an artifact, whether you are religious or not. Problem is the Treasury seems to open and close on a whim. We had to go to the church 3 times to finally find it open. Luckily we were staying close by otherwise it wouldn't have been possible. Also, if you have a half hour to spare, the Arcaheologic cypt of Paris is in the squre in front of the church and not very well visited it seems. It is free with museum pass and worth a walk around. alot of history of the city and excavations of the original buildings that stood on this place, which was the original city .

Due to the long queue at the Versailles palace we decided visit the village and came across this magnificent church. Built in 1686 it is an impressive structure and contains many fine works of art, statues, painted glass windows. Well worth visiting.

A lot of ink has been spilled (keyboard clicks made) on the Notre Dame of Paris. A less popular topic is the opportunity to take pictures from the top of the cathedral - of Paris and the statues and gargoyles on the building. I have just done it. Lovely! It is practical to take consecutive pictures to be stitched into panoramas - both horizontal and vertical. Mind you, there are more than four hundred steps to be climbed, apart from paying almost 10 euros! But it is well worth it.

So much history in this beautiful cathedral. We did not have to wait long to get in and there was a mass being held when we were there. People were very respectful of that. Being there touched my soul!
