Again, like most of the cities from Transylvania, this one has a historical centre too, a well conservated and beautiful place for the violent history of this places. Also, it's free to visit. So, if you re going in this part of the country stop by. You won't regret it.

The Clock Tower Museum is the place that unveils the local and city history. People have dwelled here since ancient times and it is only there you can find out about it and see thousands of years old pottery.

This was a lovely sight to see. Make sure to venture downstairs into the crypt to see the encased tombs.

I wrote a review a few months ago and wanted to add a little more. This place was wonderful. A lot of history and great food and shopping. There was a wonderful shop there that made items from Romania and purchased some great things to bring home. I read so other reviews mentioning beggars and I never saw one. We left the historical district and walked a little into the city and we were not approached by anyone. Loved this place.

A quick visit is not enough time to really appreciate this town but a quick walk round leaves you with the impression of visiting a very special place. Historic buildings, beautiful churches, spectacular stairs as well as being the birth place of Vlad the Impaler (great shop for traditional Romanian gifts at the back, we were advised not go in the front at pain of laughter!!!).

We had wonderful walks, enjoying everything (we'be been lucky to have a sunny day too, even in the winter). We could breathe the medieval air in all the small and lovely streets! We felt in a different world, a peaceful and magical one. We reccommend this city, i had no idea how wonderful is and for sure we'll be back!

I was here with some friends, so nice place for a walk. You can admire all the historical buildings in the center.

Whilst making Pioana Brasov (Ana Sport Hotel) your base for a few days in this delightful part of Transylvania, do not miss visiting the delightful town of Sighisoara. You should allow almost the whole day to enjoy the drive to and from Sighisoara as well as allowing ample time to explore this perfectly preserved Saxon town. Easy to walk around with sights too numerous to mention to hold ones interest as well as inviting cafes with outdoor seating areas where one can enjoy an inexpensive lunch while watching the world go by. The atmosphere is wonderfully relaxed and not at all touristy but there are several shops where souvenirs can be purchased. Do not miss a visit to the wine cellar where tastings (free) are conducted of local wines and liqueurs. On the drive back to Poiana Brasov you will pass through unchanged rural villages and you will not be disappointed if you stop for a short while and do some exploring in one or two of them. You will find the locals very friendly and hospitable. Don't forget to smile at strangers and acknowledge a friendly greeting.Of course you will also spend a day in Brasov - an easy town to walk around and explore at leisure. A visit to the medieval Gothic Black Church will occupy the best part of an hour, and the shopping in Brasov is excellent although the prices for up-market goods is pretty much in line with the rest of Europe. Food, however, is very inexpensive.

I decided to make a surprise to my wife for Sf. Valentines and I made a reservation to a questhouse in old city of Sighisoara, in medieval city. Well, that eas a very smart idea for a gift. After few calls I succed to make a reservation inside the palce. After we ceck inn we start to discover entire place. There is a time since I spent such a pleasent moments. Entire athmosphere lead you to those old days, when electricity, engines, technology and facebook of course doesn`t exist. It`s a place so quite, far away to the cars noise and crouwded of the city, despite the fact it`s close to them. You will find there a lot of history where ever you look. I heard a lot of old city of Sighisoara on tv, but when you see all those places and things around it, you will understand much better the way they use to live back in time. Any small occupation at that time has it`s own tower. That butchers tower, the Carpenters tower and so on. But most well known is the Clock Tower, because it is the bigger one, and you can find the History museum at the bottom, and you have the possibility to go up to the roof, to see the surroundings, and when you can also to make great pics. I hope my photos will explain all that much better then me. If you decided to go to visit Sighisoara and the old city, you must stay at list couple nights, because one day it`s not enough. You must take in consider to stay by the night to see exact the night atmosphere and the lights arround the place.Have a nice holiday !!!

The city of Sighisoara has a wonderfully authentic feel and was our favourite place to visit in Romania. The Clock Tower of the medieval citadel has beautiful views over the entire walled city. There's also a small torture room museum in a room within the walls.Visitors can dine in the building where Vlad Tepes was born in 1431, then walk up cobbled streets to the Gothic church on a hill overlooking the city; there's also a nicely-maintained cemetery next to it.Street artists sell their paintings in several places, which make for a nice souvenir; I bought one which now has pride of place in my lounge.

Worth going, but high on the kitsch level. We felt like we saw the whole thing after only being there an hour or two.

Sighisoara it's a place to visit if you are in the area. It's a well reserved medieval city. In the center you will find a lot of souvenir shops, restaurants and coffee shops.
