We went to see a comedy show & had a great night. The theatre is relatively new & quite modern. We had a relaxing drink in the bar before the show - there is also a restaurant. We were worried we wouldn't see much as we'd booked quite late & had seats in the back row. We were pleasantly surprised - we had a great view! The seats were very comfy & there was plenty of leg room. We'll definately be back!
We saw Conal Galen at the Market Place Theatre and had dinner before the show. The Theatre is a really nice place for a show and I would highly recommend it. Comfortable seats and friendly staff. The dinner was lovely, staff were very friendly and attentive.
A week-long marathon of writers, poets, actors, artists at the John Hewitt International Summer School in the beautiful surroundings of the Market Place. I loved it!
Went here to see a comedian in Armagh. Brill venue, the bar prices are a bit extortionate but everything else was great. Will be back.
The facilities at the Market Place are fantastic. A great night had by all. Will certainly return for comedy nights and stage performances in the future.
We have been to quite a few shows in Armagh Market Place Theatre and each one has been very entertaining. We are already book for several more before May 2014,
This is a gem of theatre. I'd guess it seats about 500 people, so you feel involved in any show. We go fairly regularly for stand-up comedy shows, and it's a great venue for that. Not only does it attract the local comedians from around Ireland, but some international comedians seem to have discovered it too.We live in Craigavon : we much prefer going to a show in Armagh Marketplace over any venue in Belfast.
Back for this years WKPF this lovely modern theatre never disappoints! Built on three levels, it is spacious & light, the main auditorium has gallery seating on two sides on the 2nd & 3rd floors, with individual "Executive" style chairs which are really good if you find sitting in row seating difficult (although some of these seats do partially obscure one wing of the stage). Staff are always friendly & helpful, although, we did notice this time that there was a varying amount of attention to ensuring that late-comers didn't disrupt the performances or the viewers enjoyment of them. Buffer doors were left open for long periods which dragged noise in from the atrium (especially noticeable as there was a lot of activity throughout the theatre at the time). The exhibition hall, is perfectly designed for hanging large works of art & the walls of the corridors on the other levels always seem to have local art work on display for sale. The bar was extremely busy when we visited & could have done with a few more staff! The toilets were kept fresh & presentable throughout performances (no mean feat as it was extremely busy!), however the bar-men seem to have difficulty in getting to grips with the fact that female customers may wish to purchase drinks & on three consecutive nights I & other women had to practically jump up down to get served, while the fellas arriving after us got instant attention... While these "niggles" wouldnt discourage us from visiting again, it does detract from the overall rating we are prepared to give the Market Place - sort these out & it would be BRILLIANT!
We went to see a comedy performed by the Belvoir players at this lovely venue in historic Armagh. We were able to park nearby, the venue is modern and well laid out. There is a restaurant though we didn't eat in it, it would seem ideal for a pre-show meal.Ordered drinks for the interval and there was good room to enjoy these.Seating was comfortable and all seem to give good views of the stage. The glory of smaller venues such as this is the intimacy between audience and performers. They have a wide ranging programme of events and we will definitely return
Very good theatre located in the heart of Armagh, and always has a good program of events. Well worth a visit.
went to see a show in this great theatre. the car park outside needs the signs on the ground painted as the one way drive ups are not very clear for someone who hasnt been there b4, so be careful when driving in it. the theater has great seats to view the stage, we were in seat P11 and 12 and they are the best. so if you are not sure what seat this row is good. the show give my head peace wasnt as good as the tv show but would be back for other shows. the price of drinks in the bar are very dear.
