If you are in any way interested in matters automotive then you must visit. Even if you are not you will enjoy the exhibits. My only suggestion would be that the details of the exhibits are written a bit larger - I found them difficult to read - and I was keen to!
This is a very small museum, but every car in it is special and very well looked after. Knowledgeable guide ("Jim") clearly knew the cars and loved them and was able to add a huge amount of background. A number of actual race winners from the 50's were my favourites. If you are interested in classic cars this is a must. If not you will be bored.... The right person could spend a full afternoon but the less passionate would pass half an hour. Well worth the entrance fee and a nice break from castles and distilleries. Small car park across the road, never seems to be full. Check opening times, seems to be open through Easter and summer but closed during winter.
We had to (unexpectedly) go to Elgin while on our vacation to visit an Argos store to purchase a voltage converter as the one we brought with us did not work and I had a dead phone and camera battery. So we kind of stumbled upon the Moray Motor Museum purely by accident. But it made the unplanned trip to Elgin really enjoyable! We were the only couple there and were treated to a personal tour by the gentleman who sold us the tickets. He was very knowledgeable about everything in the museum and he and my husband had quite a time discussing all the vehicles. My husband is a car enthusiast and I think the old gentleman enjoyed the interaction with someone who knew a little something about cars and motorcycles.I believe it was 6 GBP per person, which at first I thought was a bit steep because the place isn't exactly huge, but after he accompanied us around the entire museum, I began to think it was worth every penny. He was a very nice older gentleman and took great pride in the museum.Really glad we stopped at the Moray Motor Museum and felt it made our little side trip to Elgin (which was about an hour from where we were staying, and the closest store to find a US to UK converter) worth it!
This is a lovely little museum with a good selection of old vehicles and other bits and pieces. A good way to spend an hour or so on a rainy day. Only thing was thought it was a bit expensive at £6 for adult entry
about 40 items , cars and motorcycles. Learned that BMW patents were handed over to Bristol cars after ww2.Ideal when it's raining.
A really good range of vehicles to look at. Reasonable price and the location is central. Adequate parking opposite. A great morning or afternoon out.
stumbled across this. £6 entry for a large barn full of excellent old memorabilia and cars and bikes. Matchbox cars and games as well. Worth an hour of anyone's time. Even has a Ford Granada among the exhibits.
While on holiday last week we took one of the grandsons there, first visit for us and although it does not look much on the outside this venue is well worth a visit. We were the only ones there at the time and all our queries were answered, it was like a mini guided tour.Hubby was so impressed he has said we will call in again in June when up next and take some old motor car related items that hopefully will be of interest to the museum.Only one draw back - I could have done with a cuppa but I guess the building not large enough or busy enough to support a small café !£5 per person was well worth it !!!!
This is a must for anyone who likes cars. Lots of cars old, newer performance ones with lots of their history. A great morning or afternoons entertainment at a very reasonable cost. Good food available at Decora across the road too, whose owner owns museum.
Went to the motor museum with my son and husband. The gentleman was extremely informative and made the extremely interesting.
Very interesting motor museum with some amazing vehicle and collectables. Well worth a visit - excellent
Helpful staff who spent a lot of time with us explaining all of the cars. We are British car enthusiasts, so this was a real treat, particularly the antique Aston Martin. Definitely stop by and see their collection, very interesting.
This was a fantastic visit. There is a fantastic variety of old cars here, all maintained to the highest standard. The gentleman in charge of this museum was so helpful and friendly. He accompanied us around giving the history of each individual car. Moreover, any question we asked him, he was able to answer. This motor museum is well worth a visit.
A very interesting but small collection and some really good exhibits worth a visit easy to park,Look out for the Jaguar SS and the Rolls Royce
The £5 admission price may concern a few people but as long as your interested in your motoring history your in for a real treat. The curator has an amazing knowledge of the cars on show and the history behind the car manufacturers. Make sure you engage him at every opportunity to get the most out of this little gem of a museum. The cars on display regularly change as many are still raced today, the museum has its own workshop and mechanic to maintain the cars.
