Ever since North Lanarkshie Council took over the running of the park in the mid 90 s it has went way down hill. Visiting the park recently the extensive animal collection of wolves, owls, deer, bison are all gone. The livestock fields which held herds of deer, rare cattle sheep and ponies are overgrown, poorly maintained and some of the fencing is derelict. The once extensive network footpaths, nature trails picnic sites that were once abundant within the park are gone, if you look closely at some of the old sites you can still see old rotten picnic benches covered in moss and surrounded by overgrown vegetation. Footbridges, stiles and other access furniture are rotten and in a dangerous condition. Fencing that kept walkers out of a coupe of hazardous areas of moorland is in appalling condition. The visitor centre has been recently re furnished and the cafe has been extended. In this day and age of technology I would have though the centre would have card translation facilities. It amazes me that NLC wasted all that money on those "wave" structures at the road sides but neglects an important part of Cumbernauld. Very shoddy.

I think since NLC took over the park it has slowly went down hill, their used to be a great selection of animals years ago, but now its mostly chickens! And the regular donkey with a couple of sheep and goats. Some of the enclosures are a bit tired and could do with upgrading. The play park is good for the younger kids and the cafe and shop is good value for moneyThis park could be a wee gold mine for NLC if they put some investment into itTheirs also plenty of parking and palacerigg golf course is next to it

Great place to take some young children for a nice walk, interaction with some farmland animals and a quick snack if you're in the vicinity.

What a great place to vist with family or friends. Its free to get in. Has a play area. A cafe and some cool stuff. Also its dog friendly with long walks to exercise the dog. There is a tree top walk way you feel on top of the world ftom there.

We visited palacerigg petting zoo with elderly residents. The selection of animals and extent of interaction was poor to say the least. The signage was very poor. Quick trip and left - not great

Have took my kids here quite a few times. Great play park for the kids to play in. Plenty for them to do and keep them occupied. Also has a small selection of animals for the kids to see and feed.

I have grown up in Cumbernauld and Palacerigg was great when I was younger with lots of animals and plenty to see and do. North Lanarkshire Council have let the park become a shadow of its former self and it's barely worth a visit. Investment is badly needed to restore it to its former glory

visited palacerigg country park today.i have never been before but had heard so much about how great the animal enclosure was but that was years previously.on that basis I cant say how disappointed I was on visiting there.Majority of pens lying empty, overgrown and run down. The pens that did house animals we had the great selection of a tiny pen with a few sheep.one with a couple of pigs, one cow and the rest of the pens taken up with rabbits or diff varieties of chicken. Most information signs faded or cracked. For whatever reason it is obvious north Lanarkshire have gave up on this part of the park which is such a shame as it could be really good.Im sure kids will still enjoy it and if they can learn anything from it then that's what its there for

This is a well laid out park with lots for kids to do. There are plenty of animals and my wee boy had fun feeding them with bags of feed bought from reception. There was also face painting, pony rides and a decent play park. We went to the cafe for something to eat - the food was nice and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The tree top walk is good too. I would recommend this place to anyone with young kids and will definitely be visiting again. (they also allow dogs)

The playpark is excellent and our kids loved it. The animals aren't that exciting. We enjoyed the walk though.

Well worth a visit. Flat walking and lots of animals to see. If wet, my tip is, to wear wellies or walking boots. Take your own drinks and maybe a picnic - weather dependant. Close by a short golf course. As this attraction is free, it is a great place place to pop in and see what's going on.

This park is quite good if there is a sunny day and you are local and looking for a place for a picnic and a nice wee area to take young children to. Nothing there to hold the interest of older children. Pleasant place for a walk
