There's probably very little that can be written in a review that's not been said before! We got the ferry over from Gosport and Warrior is immediately visible from the moment one gets on the ferry to the moment one docks at Portsmouth. Warrior is a short walk from the ferry terminal , bus station and Portsmouth Harbour railway station. If your intention is to visit more than one attraction then "all attraction" tickets are available, these are good value and are valid for a year, so there's no need to try and do everything in one day - websites show which attractions can be visited with these tickets. HMS Warrior itself is fascinating and a tribute to her designers and builders and of course the crews who manned her. One is given a leaflet at the ticket desk which shows the various decks and what can be found where. Throughout the visit I kept seeing signs which seemed to relate to an audio guide, but we weren't offered one of these at any time. It was possible to join a guided tour, but we decided to make our own way around the ship. The only exception to this was our visit to the sick bay, this is the last part of the ship to be restored and opened to the public. Visitors are not permitted to visit this part of the ship unescorted. We were shown around by a very knowledgeable 80 year old gentleman, who obviously enjoyed his job, showing people around. there are some very steep ladders to negotiate to go between decks and many things to trip over on the decks! But all in all we thoroughly enjoyed our visit and would recommend this attraction to anyone who has an interest in all things naval.

It was really interesting to walk round the ship, and the member of staff who I spoke to was very knowledgeable in answering my questions - he clearly had a very thorough knowledge of sailing.

A must see attraction. Friendly and informative guides take you around but you can wander freely. Interesting for all ages.

We bought a ticket for all attractions which lasts a year. This is great because it means we can return whenever we are next in the area. Loved The Warrior; very informative guides. Even learnt what a 'Toe Rag' was - very interesting!

This is the first ship you meet on entering the historic dockyard. It has a huge black hull and is very imposing. The restoration inside is amazing, from the gun decks to the huge steam engines that once drove it.We spent hours looking over the ship, great help and information given by the onboard guides. This was the certainly the highlight of our visit to the dockyard. It could be an easy mistake to get a ticket to see the Victory the most famous ship and miss this.

So much to see, you'll underestimate the amount of time it takes to fully appreciate this ship. Staff on board are very knowledgeable and eager to help and explain. A must visit!

For all that she is a large ship, HMS Warrior tends to be thought of as the lowly cousin to HMS Victory in the Royal Naval Dockyard in Portsmouth. This is not the case in the slightest: powered by steam and sail, she was the largest, fastest and most powerful ship of her day. As an exhibit, she is decked out impeccably and shows her in all her grandeur. She has plenty to interest all ages. There are some steep steps between decks but they are manageable with care. The guides are very informative and amusing. HMS Warrior is a must see!

there where no guides. when I asked questions they had no knowledge of the history of the ship.i asked some questions about the engine room the gun and general history questions, the the only info I could get was that it was a" steam" engine.it was very poor. I gave up and just wandered aimlessly around the ship. poor value for money

Missed this one last time in Portsmouth (not enough time that day), but this time went on board. A superb ship, well restored and a great experience. A great piece of naval history, just glad I don't have to stoke the boilers with coal, full of admiration for those who severed on her.

The Warrior is part of the Historic Dockyard at Portsmouth, and is well worth a visit, she is a incredible piece of maritime history, built at time when both steam and Sails were still in use and was the first warship in the Royal Navy to be iron hulled. it was a very interesting couple of hours following the desinated route around the ship.

A great example of big Victorian engineering. Warrior has the distinction of having the heaviest anchors ever to be raised by manpower alone at 5.6 tonnes. One at each end they could only be raised one at a time, each capstan having space for 100 men to provide the necessary muscle power. And that's before the ship has moved an inch! Imagine standing on the deck as the captain of this huge vessel and navigating it out of Portsmouth to the English Channel, daunting is the word I would use! The ship is in its immaculate restored state and is very atmospheric, just a shame it doesn't have an evocative story to crown its place in history. You have to go to HMS Victory for that.......

Well presented, informative and friendly staff. Able to really explore the ship and its history. Great with a ship-loving toddler! Well done for presenting and preserving its history.

I visited HMS Victory then the next morning we went aboard Warrior. It's really interesting seeing how the design and facilities of the warship had moved on since Victory's days. By this time they had engine power as well as sails, and the sailors were all volunteers rather than forced by the press gangs to join! It's an amazing ship and superbly restored. Again the guides aboard ship were very knowledgable and helpful showing us around the ship, most are ex Navy themselves. Warrior was a real turning point in design from the days of Victory and later steam only warships. It was much more open inside, taller decks/headroom and much more thought had gone into the layout (cabins, sick bay etc). It's a warship though, not a cruise liner, and the stairs to the lower decks are steep, and you need to watch where you walk! It's a must see, Allow approx an hour to wander around and chat to some of the guides (there were no arranged tours when we visited but I liked the fact we could spend as much time as we wanted going around).

This ship is a delight to walk on with so much to see on board and the views are impressive of the harbour! You can see over to Gosport marina! Lots of history and artefacts waiting to be discovered and there are plenty of decks to keep you occupied!

No tour possible and had limited time on board. We were disappointed the ship never saw active duty but the restoration was superb. There were staff on hand to explain various aspects. Worthy of a visit on the combined Dockyard ticket.
