I have been going to Ferry Meadows for years to walk the dogs, and just take in the great walks and spaces. Last year I used to take my Mother in Law who had terminal cancer for a wheelchair push around the lakes. She loved it and always wanted to go there as much as possible. She even asked for her ashes to be spread in the park so she said she could hear the children laughing and playing. She has gone now but we now have a Grandson. This weekend we went to the park and walked the same paths as she did and we told him about his Great Gran. He is only 8 months old but I think we will always go there with him and tell him it was his great grans favourite place. So why is it so good well it has multiple lakes, water sports, bird life, fishing, child mini ride on and adult steam railways, miles of hard paths for wheelchair access, bicycle paths, craft shops, good cafe, new water sports centre with cafe, 2 great children's playgrounds, public fixed BBQs for you to use, excellent caravan and campsite, Roman history site etc etc. Parking is £4 for all day. Disabled blue badge holders get in for free and there are a large number of disabled parking slots in the 3 big car parks, 2 at the top site and one down by the new water sports centre. Spring, Summer, Autumn or Winter brings out the parks changing faces. I could go on but why not go and see for yourself. Take a kite on a windy day and rediscover your childhood.
wow what a fantastic space great for bikes, kids dog walks fishing boats camping. Never seen a space like it. Amazing facility. Wish I had something like this on my doorstep.
I have come here my whole life and never get sick of the place. It's wonderful for all ages. Well maintained, loads of activities and space. Watersports, camping, cycling, bird watching, nature trails, dog walking cafés and parks. It's deffinatly worth stopping here for a day outside! Xx
Sited only minutes from Peterborough city centre and accessible by car, bus, or from the Nene Valley preserved railway this water park has ample room to roam on foot or by bicycle. It has lakes on which canoeing and sailing is available and one of which is accessible by boat from the river Nene. There is a camp site for visitors to the city who need a pitch.
I have been there so many times spe in summers nice place for relaxing for couple walk jogging n morning walk indeed
This is the kind of place I look for when on holiday, luckily it is on my doorstep. Huge park/ recreational place, watersports, lakes, wildlife, cycle paths, walking trails, cafes, noddy train, visitors centre, walk to Peterborough city centre, restaurant/ pubs nearby, camp site, beautiful whatever the season.
Fab 1st visit we will be back when it is warmer to discover all that it has to offer. Great place for trying to get an unwilling toddler to walk more with lots to discover.
This is a lovely space and perfect for families and dog walks. There are lovely safe play areas and several walks to choose from around lakes and across the river, so you can choose a long or short walk as you wish. It is easy to get to and parking is more than adequate. There is a café a visitor centre.
Great that you enjoy visiting us and you may be pleased to know that we are going to making a dog agility course. We also have lots of other improvements for the Park planned this year which we hope all visitors will enjoy.
This park is quite near to Peterborough, and is a real haven. There are lakes with paths around, so you can do several walks. Families were out enjoying the half term sunshine, on bikes, skates, in pushchairs and just walking along. A lovely setting. We did a geocache trail, which was very enjoyable. There are a range of family activities for half term. The cafe offered a range of food and drinks, and was a nice setting to relax.
Ferry Meadows is a nice space, though apparently haunted by a ghost lorry. There are some new additions to the play equipment. The cafe at the visitor centre is ok but mysteriously slow. The parking always seems adequate and affordable.
Glad you enjoyed the trail even if it was a little challenging! Sorry to hear about your experience in the cafe. I agree that you would hope people would try and keep the warmth in as we have had a few chilly days.
We have been to Ferry Meadows scores of times over the years, as we live reasonably close to it. Good facilities, lovely, open spaces and plenty of water for our Goldies to get into!
Sounds like you had a great day out. Hope you can visit again soon.
This country park was dug out 35 years ago and has now matured into a beautiful natural place, loads of wildlife, sailing, walks. The only thing I don't like is the signposts where metric is used and imperial seems to have been forgotten. I prefer miles to kilometres!
