My wife and I visited this National Trust site and it was wonderful. We walked around the parkland and get up close to the many fallow deer which was lovely. We attended a planned talk at the gatehouse with one of the volunteer guides giving us the history of the mansion house and the Lucy family.Inside we also attended a talk about the clothing worn in the Mo's 16th century Elizabethan times as well as visiting all of the available rooms inside of the house as well as the outside buildings.A very enjoyable half day visit, indeed.

We were staying at The Walton Hall so decided to have a look around this National Trust place on the way back to the hotel on the first sunny Spring afternoon of the year.We just paid for the park and gardens as we don't really enjoy the properties. Overall it was a lovely place to have a wander around and we could have stayed for hours if we wanted. There were many families enjoying picnics and games of cricket which was lovely to see.We had scones and coffees in the cafe - the young girls on the till were efficient and polite - luckily we just wanted a snack as by 2:30pm most of the food had sold out. It was very busy we suspect due to the weather so we weren't surprised how popular the cafe was!Overall it was a lovely couple of hours and the staff on the reception and welcome pointing out the key staff were clearly very enthusiastic, polite and enjoying their jobs!

It took us an hour to drive to this property and much less time to look round it. I estimate that there were only 6 or 7 rooms to look round, less that half of the property. We are NT members so didn't have to pay, but I'd have been sorely disappointed if we had. The café was quite cramped and my partner found a hair baked into his overpriced sausage roll, which wasn't nice.We did have a nice spring walk around the meadow and along a stretch of the River Avon. The deer and the small church were both lovely, but on the whole I wasn't impressed and probably wouldn't go back.

This Tudor house, outbuildings and park are well cared for and as they were being 'unpacked' after the winter it was interesting to see how the Trust look after their properties. The deer were lovely too but what remember most is the really friendly and knowledgeable staff and the added extras - ladies cooking their jacket potatoes in the range, the talk on Tudor costume which was particularly interesting if you watched Wolf Hall etc. Lunch was pretty good too.

Whilst staying in Warwick, we decided to visit this National Trust property as it was very close by. It is easy to find with plenty of parking. The house itself is across the road from the carpark, a couple of minutes walk away. The exterior of the building is beautiful with lots of outbuilidings, laundry, brewhouse and tackroom. The inside of the property is very palatial, however, we were disappointed with the amount of rooms we could actually visit and some of them had the furniture draped in white sheets so we were unable to see the full beauty of the rooms. We enjoyed visiting the old kitchen as there was a lady dressed in period costume cooking pancakes. There is a shop and tearoom on site. The layout of the tearoom is somewhat to be desired and it sells out of food very quickly and clearly unable to meet the demands of the visitors that use it. The best part of the visit was the deer park. The male deer were very tame and you could get very close for a great photo opportunity. We spent a good half an hour with them. Certainly a place to visit if you are in the area and you would need a good 2 - 3 hours to see everything comfortably and have a walk around the park.

As a National Trust member, the admission price is not an issue. However, if I were a casual visitor and had to pay the £7.50 entry fee I would be a little disappointed with limited number of rooms to view in the main house. However, what rooms that are available are decorated and furnished with some tremendous items!Unusually, the volunteers assisting visitors within the main house are much younger than experienced at other NT properties visited in recent years, which is good to see.

We decided to go here as it was not too far from where we were staying and the pictures on the National Trust website looked lovely. Unfortunately we picked a very cold day so didn't spend much time here, however it is somewhere we would return if in the area. We would also make sure the house was open as we are out of season this time. A lovely setting and managed to get some great pictures of the deer that were there

Took the boys here for a day out. The scenery is excellent. We went deer spotting which isn't hard and were lucky enough to find a small antler. The grounds are spacious and good for exploring, the hall was closed when we visited but some of the outhouses were still open and the walks are superb. Great for a few hours with the kids or a nice walk to get away from it all.

Wonderful grounds , lovely house with huge Xmas tree. We visit here very often. But our one gripe is the restaurant is not big enough for the amount of people that go through charlecote. Baddesley is way better.

As members, we called in at Charlecote to soak up the festive atmosphere. The staff were very welcoming and as we approached the house, the Salvation army were playing carols. There were a lot of people enjoying the grounds in a variety of Christmas jumpers, which added to the ambiance. It has to be said that most of the house is closed for the huge task of conservation and cleaning, but the hallway, dining room and billiard room have beautiful contemporary decorations which takes you back to Christmases of old. well done the staff. I would say it may be a bit disappointing if you go expecting to visit the whole house, but if you go to enjoy mulled wine tasting and be amongst like minded people enjoying a walk in the grounds and the decorations in a beautiful house, you will have a lovely time.

We arrived here late afternoon so just had time to enjoy the park and ground floor of the house before it closed for the day. There was enough time though I did feel that certain staff were already packing up and ready to be off as soon as possible, when it wasn't actually the ends of visiting. The Christmas feel and decorations gave a good ambience.

I don't really know why this place was built here? The location is flat and the passing river was not made a feature to be enjoyed. Its now a National Trust place who, being 'loaded' seem to throw money at the place. The entrance location is on the other side of a main road where over priced plants may be brought. I suppose one could get in for free as the entrance gate cannot be seen from the official entrance over the road! There are better places in the National Trust near by where you can have a more enjoyable day out....

I know that there are quite a lot of NT properties that are a good walk from the car park but others are more interesting when you get there.Charlecote Park is a beautiful park setting seeing the deer roaming in the grounds but the house and gardens are not as good as others in the area.Maybe try Upton House.

Thank you for your review of Christmas time at Charlecote. We're sorry to hear that it did not meet your expectations. Our aim this year has been to recreate a traditional Victorian Christmas. The house and outbuildings have been decorated to reflect the way that Charlecote would have looked and felt around 150 years ago by bringing out the true spirit and character of this family home. Together the decorations and the programme of activities including storytelling and music are designed to give a Christmas atmosphere in the warm, homely way that is a key part of Charlecote.
