Fabulous outside in a wonderful square; inside very impressive too, as it has been restored as part of the twentieth century university.

I wasn't sure about going in, but we read that you could and we're glad we did. The more gothic exterior doesn't quite prepare you for the interior renaissance courtyard which was very beautiful and harmonious. A lovely surprise!

Wander around the university of Andalucia, free of charge and marvel at the renaissance facade and detailed decorations.

This is a really impressive building which we stumbled across on our walk through the winding streets of Baeza towards the amazing viewpoint over the valley, the olive trees, and towards Úbeda. Worth a look :)

You must go inside - it's a university college but just walk straight in - and see the cloister.

The Palace of Jabalquinto is located in the Plaza de Santa Cruz and is the most impressive and beautiful palace of Baeza. It was ordered to be constructed in the 15th century by Juan Alonso de Benavides Manrique, who was the second cousin of King Ferdinand, the Catholic. Juan Guas was the architect. The palace is one of the best examples of the Spanish Gothic style, with an Isabeline facade. There are semicircular pillars with capitals that resemble stalactites. There are diamond like protruberances on the facade that play with light and shadow. On the top floor is a gallery with five arches that was added in the 16th century, and is of Renaissance style. There is an impressive Renaissance courtyard and a Baroque monumental staircase.

Great on the exterior--and we were really looking forward to the interior--but it was closed due to Holy Week.

Palacio de Jabalquinto is home to the university of Baeza and can be visited for no fees. The façade, the cloisters and main stairs are really worthy of a visit.

La fachada es preciosa con sus puntas de diamante y sus piñas. Está situado en la plaza de Santa Cruz y es del siglo XV.

No te esperas encontar un edificio tan espectacularmente perfecto con esa fachada de gotico isabelino de finales del siglo XV en esa pequeña plaza frente a la iglesia romanica de santa cruz del siglo XIII. No la pudimos visitar por dentro por estar cerrada pero dicen presenta un patio puro renacentista.

Muy bonito para un reportaje de fotos. Está restaurado y su interior se utiliza por la universidad internacional, pero se puede entrar gratis a ver el patio interior.

¡Que pena no haber podido visitar el interior! Cuando visitamos Baeza pudimos contemplar la magnífica fachada, tan distinta a otras que solo recuerdo en el estilo la del Palacio del Infantado en Guadalajara, posiblemente ambas de Juan Guas.Ahora, cuando al ir a escribir el comentario he visto las fotos de otros usuarios y las referencias al patio me da pena no haberlo visto. Otra vez será. Tanto Baeza como su vecina Úbeda merecen que volvamos.

Solo pudimos ver la fachada porque es universidad y en Sábado estaba cerrada pero tiene su encanto y está magníficamente conservada.

La tozudez de unos propietarios que supieron dejar atada y bien atada su voluntad ha preservado la fachada absolutamente diferente de este palacio. De lunes a viernes se puede visitar por las mañanas ya que funciona como universidad, en fin de semana solo se puede ver su fachada ( ya es mucho a ver). Realmente sorprendente.
