One of only a hand full of beaches on Gozo but well worth a visit serviced by a nice kiosk toilets and fast ferry to comino

You just can't resist to dive into the sea at this bay. The sea in incredibly clear and clean. You can see Comino and the Blue Lagoon right in front of you and in fact every year I swim with my Lifeguard colleagues across from this bay to Blue Lagoon by swim. There's also a convenient bar/restaurant/take-away place here with good value for money food. The bay may be a bit hard to reach without a car as you have to walk down the hill (and up) since the bus stops at the top.

Well, we were there in the december so almost nobody was there. But for the summer and since people told us this would be the best place to go for a swim we would consider the beach way too small to have a relaxing time.

little man made sandy beach beloved of Gozitans - it has crystal clear water, white sand, little rocky bits to sit on, loungers to rent, a café (great coffee and the new café frappe is to die for!), boats to comino and the blue lagoon etc....even bananas to ride on. It sounds crazily busy but it's usually not. gets popular at weekends (though i'm told 6am - 9am on a sunday, it's empty!! no kidding!!) and later in the afternoon but it's never too much. There's also little bays round the corner.....a short rocky walk away. The walk down - and back - is VERY steep.....be warned. The view from the top, however is fantastic - you can see comino, malta....and the ferry!

This is a great place. It's a bit "off the beaten path" but even so it gets extremely busy at peak times (weekends, bank holidays). There's ample parking if you're prepared to walk downhill for a couple of minutes, but it's worth the effort. Though the beach is small and quite likely to be full, the sea is lovely and perfect for swimming in. Sunbeds & umbrella hire is available, there are toilets and cafes there and it has all you need for a nice day by & in the sea.

We walked here from nadur having spoke with a few locals. The beach was immaculate as was the surrounding area. The kiosk was well stocked and the food was delicious especially the homemade ravioli. Hondoq also offers the best snorkelling on the island. A must see...

As usual in Malta and Gozo signs are a bit of an issue and its not easy to find. The beach is mainly pebbles and rather small but this is the place to go for jumping in the sea! The kids really enjoyed the different height levels to jump from (highest was about 3.5 meters) and the sea is so beautiful.

We went here expecting clear waters, a nice beach and wanted to spend the day there dipping in and out of the waters. We spent ages trying to find it - there was some sign posts but not enough. Winding down the hill we were initially met by a concrete mass and a full parking area. Having parked 'imaginatively' we identified the small bay and sought to hire some sun beds - note here that the beach is full of white rocks and you will need to have some kind of protection from it if you want to lie down. It was hot so we also hired two parasols. Total price 25€!The rental guy set everyone up for us, raising this to a two dot experience. We lay down, crowded in among many others, with cigarette smoke billowing, kids screaming and people wandering to and fro. Relaxing? No!Once we decided to enter the sea for some fresh water we had to endure the torture of a thousand rocks pressing against the foot. The water was warm and inviting, but we were still fighting to keep our balance on the unpleasant rocks. The water was full of garbage including kitkat wrappers and icecreamtub lids.Decided not to go back

The waters were incredibly clear so it was perfect for snorkelling, the facilities are great and the cafe/restaraunt serves great food and ice cream. Lots of watersports to choose from and some varied cliffs to jump for. What more could a person ask for?

Hondoq Bay is a truly lovely bay. It gets quite busy especially in the peak summer but the water is crystal clear and easy to spot the jelly fish when they come in. The beach bar/ restaurant provides excellent meals and not at all expensive. One can look out over to Comino too. Suggest you wear good shoes as the rocks are on the sharp side and the beach has no sand but full of large pebbles.

Hondoq is like an undiscovered haven. It's far enough off the beaten track to avoid the major onslaught of the tourists and close-at-hand enough to be convenient. If you're staying in Qala it's a 20 minute walk down the hill past the Chapel of Santa Marija but, be careful, the walk back up is a long uphill slog. Better take the car, couch potato. ;-)Once you're there, there is:A fully licenced restaurant/bar, serving draught beer, burgers, sandwiches etc.A kiosk serving burgers, sandwiches, hotdogs, cold drinks etc.A dive centre where you can book CUBA dives and courses.A water sports centre offering everything from ferry crossings to Comino, speed boat cruises etc. to kayak and self drive boat hire.Parasols and sun beds to rent.Decently clean toilets with changing facilities.A gift shop selling all things beachey.Oh yeah, and a beach. :-)The water is usually clear and calm, due to the bays location and shape and the sand, although a little rocky in places, is mostly soft under foot. The views across to Comino, and Malta in the distance, are simply stunning. There is lots of good snorkelling and diving here too.Come back at sunset and the place takes on a whole new level of tranquillity.

Hondoq Bay is well worth a visit if staying on Gozo, there is a pleasant beach, which can become crowded, particularly at weekends and for those who don't like the feel of sand between their toes there is a concrete area where it is possible to hire sun beds. Swimming is safe within a roped off area and there is an area for jumping with ladders coming out of the sea. A watersports provider is based here with speed boat rides and sit on top kayaks. The cafe serves a wide variety of refreshments but you shouldn't leave the area without tasting their banoffee flavoured ice cream, delicious.

Quiet and scenic. Beach is rocky. June visit coincided with jelly fish, unfortunately swimming was impossible.Boat trips to nearby Comino Island and caves is possible from here.
