It's not the biggest but it's one of the best smaller parks around. The falls and the flat rock areas to the front and side of the falls are perfect location for scenic photos with or without people. There are rental boats to enjoy the lake and there is a great picnic area.Desoto Falls State Park is nearby complete with cabins, a motel, and restaurant. It's worth a stop. Be sure to bring a camera.
After hiking miles the day before, this short walk to the falls was nothing in comparison. One fall is to the right 3/4 mile and it's a beautiful walk along the trail. The other fall is only 1/4 mile away, although it's called the lower falls they are both a bit of a climb upward but nothing too hard. It was worth the drive to see this definitely. We even talked about camping here sometime in the future...The creek along the campsites is really pretty.
Looking for a short morning walk with great view for you and your doggies, come here. Trail is wide and easy for older dogs. My lab was 8yrs. Old and had no issues enjoying this trail. He had to take a break going up Brasstown bald , but not here.
It's just a short, easy walk to this waterfall from the parking area and worth it. Lovely waterfall, easy wading in cool water, and not a busy attraction so you can enjoy it more. It isn't something you would drive a long distance just to see, but if you're already in the area of Blairsville, then it's worth it. Located a short drive south of town on Hwy. 129, say, perhaps 10 miles.
we ended up walking up in a cold rain, but enjoyed the views once we got there. strongly recommend for family experience
This is the best , most awesome place ever! I loved it! My BFF had her wedding photos taken here. I had to be carried down which was very tricky and back up it was so hard but so worth it.The kids loved sliding down it on their tail ends! A great family place to see nature at its best! Just be in good shape for climbing and walking !
I have been going up to this falls forever. Took my new husband to see it and he loved it also. Although they do need to look into making it safer. The railing are getting old and shaky!
My husband and I visited these falls recently and they are beautiful. The lower falls are a tad harder to get to, though only a quarter mile from the start of the trail. The upper falls are really the middle falls--the old upper falls trail is closed due to erosion and is no longer safe to hike on. But the middle falls are beautiful and well worth the 2.2 mile round trip hike.
Don't be fooled by the sign to the falls. The lower falls trail may only be .25 miles (one-way) but it's all uphill. The upper falls trail is .75 miles (one-way) and a much easier hike. The trails are very well maintained and the scenery is gorgeous. We went while the leaves were turning wow! Just beautiful. There are plenty of picnic tables and a campground here as well.
There are two falls here, both relatively easy to get to and easy to find, about a 2.5 mile round trip hike. The upper falls is more impressive with a viewing platform. The walk is pleasant and views of the river are all around. The lower falls is about 40 ft (compared to the 100 ft upper) but still worth the trip.
(Note my earlier review is actually for Desoto Falls in Alabama -- trying to delete). This is a lovely drive through the twist and turns scenic highway. The hikes to both falls were easy and moderate. We enjoyed a picnic afterwards in pleasant surroundings with clean compost toilets nearby.
My husband and I did this hike, there are two separate falls to hike to. Both are easy hikes and the falls are nice to see.
This is a relatively easy hike to see two waterfalls with children and dogs. To go to the upper falls, it is 3/4 of a mile for a total 1.5 mile round trip. At the upper falls there are benches to sit and enjoy the view. Almost at the beginning of the trail is a fork in the other direction, which is the lower falls trail. This trail is only 1/4 mile for a total 1/2 mile round trip. These falls are just as beautiful as the upper falls and again bench seating is offered. To see both trails, it's only a total 2 mile hike on relatively smooth trails and few hills. Picnic tables and a pit toilet, as well as numerous campsites, are near the trailhead.
The walk to the upper falls is easier and maybe more rewarding. It's a wide path, and a show gradual slope, very enjoyable! Neither waterfall has rushing water, even after rain.
Great hike to take the grandkids and enjoy the natural beauty of Desoto Falls. We stopped by in August and it was a hot day, remember to bring some water with you and enjoy the trails.
