Stayed just one night with family after riding the SAM Shortline train to Plains to see the Christmas lights. Our family of six stayed in one of the cabins. We have stayed at Georgia State Parks in cabins before so we knew what to expect. The two bedroom cabin was clean and comfortable. We really didn't stay long enough to use the kitchen, just in late Saturday night after the train ride and then left Sunday morning to go eat breakfast and then hit the road. The view of the lake from the back porch in the morning was just beautiful. There is a lot to do there. Our children have camped there many times and love the park. The only thing that is different about this park is that it is managed by a different company so the rates for cabins are much higher than other parks even though the cabins are comparable, not sure why. We would definitely come here again, although it would probably be to camp.
Went for an overnight stay. Everything was easy and nice. It was off season so not crowded. The room was comfortable, but needs furniture and TV upgrades.
Beautiful sunrise ans sun sets right over the water. Well kept camp sites. Very larg lake. Boat rentals and Bike rentals.
Once again, here is one of Georgia's hidden treasures. Beautiful. Morining, Midday or evening. Very peaceful and tranquil.
This golf course has plenty of character. The fairways are pretty wide open and the greens roll true. I liked the variety of par 3's. The layout was fun and challenging. Great rates available online.
A middle aged man behind the counter was obnoxiously rude. It was my first "rude" encounter at this course. I should have asked his name to include in the review. My bad. Nornally, there is a nice young lady there with a smile and a positive attitude. But the guy just ruined my day specially since I have a 30-mile drive to the course. The course itself is nice. Presently, its quite docile and in need of a little pampering. but again, its winter. In summer, I rented a boat at the marina and had a great experience. Overall, not a bad place, just a bit out of the way.
Very few places in Crisp County or Dooley County to get a Drink other then Beer. This Veteran`s Administration Resort has a Full Service Restaurant & Bar and does Catering as well. A bit of a drive out of town but worth it.
This is a very nice layout, well maintained, and a wonderful value for the money. I am a low single digit player and was able to hit almost every club in my bag in the 18 holes. To me this is a well designed course. The only downside was that the knats were pretty bad, but they even had an herbal spray for them that they sold at a reasonable price.
We arrived early and asked for a call when the room was ready and they agreed. No call. We toured the park, went on a boat ride and played nine holes of golf. At 3:30 pm we asked if we could wait in the lobby since it was raining cats and dogs and were told ...."the room has been ready"! F-. We had requested a room with a balcony and ours did not. One call to the front desk and Erica came through for us. Many thanks to Erica (they were fully booked). I've learned poor reviews should be taken with a grain of salt, that said, The beds and pillows especially should be sold to Knight's Inn. Really! The views are great, the docks are a short walk from the rooms, and the meeting facilities are perfect. We had a great time. The event staff was on the top of their game and made us feel very special. We'll be back (after the front desk clerks receive a little training)...
We went to Lake Blackshear Resort Golf Club for a family reunion 4th of July weekend. Staff was very friendly and rooms were nice. The park and lake was beautiful. Would love to visit there again!
Beautiful park. Well maintained grounds. Gorgeous lake. We rented one of their buildings for our reunion, and it was perfect for our family gathering - plenty of parking and plenty air conditioning!
Frienly staff.i played 18 holes with cart fot 20 dollars.course was in great shape the weather was perfect.the course was well maintained and was fun to play.course is top rated.
This is nice. They have a restraunt that is awesome.Cypress Grill. Good food and on weekends good entertainment. After 9 is adults ...Good place for the family to relax, play and dine. Then drinks!!
Attended a business conference for the first time at this resort. The conference meeting facility was very nice. I chose not stay in the hotel rooms or the cabins as they seemed very old and dated. Attendees that did stay in the cabins expressed the need for renovations and upgrades to the rooms.
This golf park was once a gem. Georgia has some great state park golf courses, and this one was once a great place to play. I hadn't been there in a few years and was surprised by the condition. Firrst of all, they were out of range balls. Three of us split one bag. The driving range hadn't been mowed in quite some time. Many of the greens had large dead spots. All of them were firm and very slow. And we didn't encounter a bunker all day that appeared to have been raked in weeks. Some even had weeds growing in them. The food service was terrible in the clubhouse. They were out of hotdogs and had a very limited selection of everything else. And the men's bathroom was filthy. What a shame. This was once a great course with a creative layout. But unless a lot of time and money is spent on restoring it, at $37, it was not worth the money.
