This is a great clock shop that includes clocks and staff. You could spend hours in this place just listening to the old fashioned grandfather clocks and their chimes. It's really hard to imagine such a great clock shop located in a such small town such as Douglasville. Usually small towns do not have such a large selection and you normally would have to go to a larger city to find what you want.
I found Champ's Clock Shop on Trip Advisor and as we were staying nearby we decided to drop by for a visit based on prior reviews. Our visit did not disappoint, the location in a rural community outside of the hustle and bustle of suburban Atlanta is so random and unexpected. I had to assure the others that we were in fact headed the correct direction as it seemed that a world class clock shop could not possibly be located out there. Then suddenly we arrived at the quaint property, the locale is quite picturesque. We parked in the small lot and walked into the compound past the tall trees and clock tower with its three stained glass windows. Once inside there was a vast and impressive array of grandfather clocks, cuckoo clocks, wall clocks and large thermometers. As others have observed it seems almost like a small museum devoted to timekeeping. Some of the wall clocks have the most incredible mechanisms that have to be seen to be believed and the folks at Champ's are eager to demonstrate these. Which brings me to the key aspect regarding Champ's, this is a family business that has blossomed into a passion and commitment to what they have created together. If you respond favourably and appreciate what Champ's is all about on your visit they will casually slip into easy conversation with you about the clocks, their history and the history of Champ's itself. We met Sharon, the wife of the founder and she delighted our four adults and our six year old granddaughter with the story of their World's largest cuckoo clock on display (it is truly enormous). I also spoke with Jeff Champion at length and noted immediately that he had the same enthusiasm and eagerness to educate guests who show an interest. In a world full of the expected, mass produced and often sterile experiences that we may have become accustomed to, it is encouraging to find that there are still a few wonderfully unexpected, uniquely special places like Champ's that make the world a more interesting place. Clock enthusiasts will be magnetically drawn here and would visit regardless of comments, yet there is also much to entertain those with a more casual interest. Highly recommended for all ages, though children need to be well behaved as there are many delicate breakables within reach.
If you love clocks like I do, you'll think you've died and gone to heaven at this place. They have the largest inventory of grandfather clocks in the country. Tucked away in the hills outside Douglasville, GA, this place is worth the scenic drive. Rooms full of hundreds of grandfather clocks, cuckoo clocks, modern clocks with amazing sound quality, and even the Pat the Cat (plastic cat clock with the moving tail) in a multitude of colors! Not tacky at all, this place is run by true experts in clocks, their purchase, and their repair. The carving, wood grain, and ornate designs of these clocks are equivalent to visiting a museum. If you're interested in purchasing, the clocks are reasonably priced. They make you feel welcome and provide a plethora of information as you brouse around with clocks chiming all around you. You can zip through the place and be impressed, or really relax and explore for hours. Either way, you'll come away with a unique and worthwhile experience.
This place is almost a museum, except the clocks are for sale. One could easily spend a couple of hours here looking at all the grandfather, wall and Cuckoo clocks. Their prices seem to be very competitive as well. I have really enjoyed the Cuckoo clock I purchased a number of years ago, and it has never given us any trouble. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Although the location is off the beaten path, it is well worth the time to search out.
Pleasant, informative, interesting for our whole family. Would like to take a picnic basket and just spend a whole afternoon there. I don't often see things that I want as I have all the "stuff" I can tolerate. But, here, their inventory is so vast and neat...I wanted several of their clocks. You are made to feel welcome and important to them.
im a clocker by hobby been tinkering on clocks since a young age of 5 its soothing. so when I went here it just blew me away at the clocks of all types I love love love this place. a must see
So many clocks in one place, all styles, as much a museum as a store. Unusual, funny, historical, all manner of timepieces from many places. We really enjoy just seeing the variety of clocks possible.
We visit seasonally every Christmas and have purchased several unique clocks here. My husband is a collector of mostly antique mantle and carriage clocks and always loves to look at the latest selection at Champs. The staf is knowledgeable and very helpful. Worth a trip but use Google Maps or a GPS to find it it is off the beaten path and really not on the way to anywhere. It is almost like a clock museum. Definitely worth the trip if you like or are in the market for a Grandfather Clock or unique wall clock.
I took my kids (7 and 10) there on a visit. This was not only fun and fascinating, but so informative! The staff are passionate and helpful and didn't mind talking about their passion with us. What a great find off a small road!!
Love looking at all the unusual clocks from all over the world, and believe me this place has them! Nice folks; However, they don't work on anyone's clocks now, unless you had bought it from them. What a shame, they are so great with clock repair of all makes, and time periods. They seem to stay busy.
This is the most amazing place you could call a clock store! I have never seen so many clocks or different kinds of clocks in my life. At noon, it's like a symphony of chimes. From tiny clocks to 10-ft tall cuckoo clocks to antique clocks. Definitely a destination!!
Esta loja é um lugar lindo e imperdivel para quem é apaixonado por relógios. Meu marido é um colecionador e ficou encantado. Viemos para Douglasville só por causa dessa loja e valeu a pena!
