rooster cogburn ostrich ranch

We live 15 minutes away and have watched it grow over the last 9 years! We have had birthday parties there and have made friends meet us there so they can love it as much as we do! The Monster Truck is too much fun! The Loorikeets are always my favorite! The Ostriches...well...READ the signs my friends! The goats won't hurt you and the deer are as sweet as ever!

Friends were taking us to the airport and we had about 1.5 hours to kill, and they said they had driven by many times but knew nothing about the Ostrich ranch. We reluctantly decided to do the full package with the monster truck ride and were glad we did. The entire experience was very entertaining. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. Our group consisting of conservative business owners in our 50's and 60's really enjoyed the ranch and highly recommend it.

I'd seen this place from the highway many times over the years but finally stopped during my last trip to Arizona. I was pleasantly surprised by how clean it was, how well cared for the animals were and how much fun we all had. We were all adults and had a blast, so I can only imagine bringing children would make it that much better.

Tons of fun especially with kids. You can only feed animals or add the monster truck ride for an extra fee. The animal feeding was quite entertaining for my 5 and 7 year old (watch out for the ostriches! They bite!) but the highlight was the lorikeet (sp?) feeding. The birds land on you and drink nectar from a little cup. The monster truck ride was fun and safe (don't worry moms) and ends at an "ostrich fishing" dock (a raised platform with pvc pipe fishing poles that you clip orange slices to and hang over to feed the ostriches). Overall, this was a great family place to visit. Worth the stop and the money.

I liked it all, very informative. If you can take the monster truck ride on the weekends, if not possible still a good place to see ostriches, goats, rabbits, the experience with the lorekeets is great.

There is a small charge to get in, but it gives you feed for the animals there with it. We first went in and fed the burro's... then it was onto the deer. From thee we feed the goats in the "condo". there are little cups to put feed in and then you crank it up and it dumps into a bin for them to eat. Then to the hole in the wall.. where the goats put their heads out of the holes and you can feed them up close. They will also take food out of your mouth if you wish. Then onto the ostriches'......... there were tubes to put the feed into, although some of them will stick their heads over the fence. You can go up on a platform and get even closer. I do not recommend trying to feed them from your hands as they do bite, as I found out. There were groundhogs that we tossed peanuts too and baby goats that we fed. We were given a token to get duck food and there again, be careful. Then the last place in there was the Lorikeet house. We were given a small cup of nectar for them. The birds will take off the lid themselves and sit on your head and arms. They are so colorful and pretty to look at. Attached was also some tortoises.while they sell ostrich products, they don't have food to buy. But there are tables to sit and eat your picnic lunch.

Feb 22 rode monster truck w Robert fantastic for all ages. A must see, take the exit and do this tour and ranch visit, RV friendly. Very informative, action ride, fishing feed was unique, ranch feeding attractions were different and well thought out. Must say, joy filled stop and play.

We passed by this place last year & vowed to visit it this year. We weren't disappointed!! For an entrance fee ($7 pp), we were given 2 plastic cups. In these cups were food for the animals you were going to visit. The 1st was full of pellets for the donkeys, deer, goats & ostriches. The 2nd cup contained a few peanuts for the prairie dogs, a token to purchase food for the ducks, & a small container of nectar for the lorakeets (birds). BEWARE of the ostriches because they will pluck the cups right out of your hand if you're not careful!!! Yep. I lost mine. However, you can buy more food for $2 if you want. It was a blast to feed the animals! They also have a few gimmicks, like sending food to goats high in the air, or feeding the goats by putting a pellet in your mouth & letting them pluck it from your lips. Sounds gross, but if you're careful, it's not that bad. :) The ducks were fun, too. But the most awesome were the lorakeets. I was amazed by them. Yes, there is the possibility that they might poop on you, but they say it's good luck if they do. Haha. I was lucky. They also have a monster truck ride for about $15, but we didn't go on that. Maybe next time. The entire 'tour' didn't take long, but it was just my hubby & I. Kids would love it & you'd want to stay longer. If you leave there without a smile, I'd be surprised! I was still smiling later in the day!! Enjoy the experience!

After passing the signs for this attraction we decided to take a Sunday afternoon and check it out so much fun I'm so much more than just ostriches great thing to do weekend afternoon for the whole family

The grandchildren, ages 11 and 4, parents and grandparents all enjoyed our experience at Rooster Cogburn's. So many animals to interact with. Even the 4 year old was fearless feeding ostriches, mini donkeys, goats, prairie, dogs, birds. The Monster Truck Ride was great fun, with ramp access for the handicapped. The driver was very informative describing the desert environment for us city folk. I suggest you bring a picnic to eat at the Arizona state park that's located just as you turn off the main highway. Nominal admission charge, pass good for an entire year at any state park, clean full service restrooms, with covered picnic tables. Great views of the area overlooking a very busy railroad track that fascinated the children...

I wanted to ride one...but that didn't happen. ;) Instead I fed those clacking beaks right out of my hand...they don't hurt, but they don't know the difference between you and the food! What a great photo opportunity, and I loved the goats, prairie dogs, donkeys, ducks and Lorikeets too! All fed right out of your hand! Friendly operators and just a great place.

Stopped here with the grandkids ages 8 and 6. Loved it. They loved feeding the animals and petting them as well. The Lorikeets were really amazing. The Monster Truck ride was a hit. They learned a lot about not only the animals , but the Arizona desert as well. The guide was great . Would definitely recommend and would love to go back again.

Great experience provides the opportunity to do something different with the family,enjoyable for adults and children of any age.

Really fun and worthwhile if you're visiting Phoenix or Tucson. Feeding the birds was the big favorite. Definitely opt for the monster truck ride. Totally awesome, informative, and cool.

We took our 6 year old Granddaughter to this place and she loved it. At first she was a bit "shy" around the animals, but then she started feeding them and we couldn't stop her. You have to be a bit careful when you get to the Ostrich's in the big pen. They are very quick to peck your hand, and I did almost get an index finger taken off (not really).......the ducks are fun and the Avery is awesome too. Go in the Winter months. Check the website closely because they are closed during the week days in the hot Summer months and only opened on the weekends.
