Not much with facilities but on the way to Old Tucson and The Desert Museum. Cannot help to pass through coming and going. Nice hiking trails with plenty of pullovers for parking. Watch out for the Cholla....they hurt.

The park offers great views of Tucson and the mountains. But there's lots of trash and broken glass.

Fantastic view of the Saguaro National Park, and the Tucson area, nice nature trails to walk on also.

We stayed recently very near to Tucson Mountain Park and were able to take advantage of some of the great desert hiking available there. There were many great trails. It was amazing since on some trails we would not even see people, yet were adjacent to Tucson. I would highly recommend this park.

We went three times in 5 days. Hummingbirds are wonderful, docents are helpful and the vistas are wonderful.

While there are specified trails one can follow, they are often difficult to locate. It almost seems like this does not get the traffic the national park does and they have intentionally not over developed it. Many descriptive signs giving the history etc. of the area. Lots of parking. Have water with you, be alert for snakes. One could spend hours wandering through the mountains here. Thicker stands of cacti than in the national park.

Did some hiking in this park while also staying at the RV park located within. The park has numerous trails. We visited in early February. The days were warm and the nights cool. Our trusty pooch was with us, and although it appears there are rules about taking a dog in the park (other than the campground) it was obvious many people took them on the trails. We ended up doing the same, always leashed. Too much cactus and too many potential critters for dogs to wander around too much.

Unspoilt area close to Tucson with places to stop and take in the view or hike. a good drive but not so far from the city itself.

Overwhelming forest of sahuaro catus! Rarely do you see a stand so impressive and healthy!A true winner among natures creation!

Did several hikes with my brother when he was in town. One of my favorites is the David Yetman Trail and the Stone House. Great area for hiking.

We have been staying in this area over the past 3-4 years. Tucson Mountain Park has great hiking trails of varying difficulty. They aren't always marked clearly, but they are beautiful! From the desert floor to the tops of a few of the peaks in the area - and although these trails are more or less in the city of Tucson - it gives a sense of being in the middle of a wilderness area most of the time. A great map and information on the hiking in the area is available at the Saguaro National Park Visitor Center just off from Kinney Rd. There are picnic areas in the park, some near the trail heads - but take water and lunch with you on the trails. Many flowers in blossom on our recent visit.

Great exploring close to Tucson. Not all the trails are marked so be prepared to be adventurous. Flowers are beginning to open. Birds here and there.

Tucson Mountain Park is a fantastic piece of mountain desert just beyond Tucson's western edge, via the highway through Gates Pass. Last year we visited the Arizona-Sonoran Museum and absolutely loved it - particularly the "birds of prey" demonstration. We've done a number of hikes in the area and found them all excellent and quite unique from one another. There is a glossy brochure available at Gilbert Ray Campground and at the Museum that has good detail on the trails. One great hike is Brown Mountain, 8 or 9 km in length. We left from or campsite in Gilbert Ray Campground (trailhead parking is available across the road from the campground entrance) and took the up-and-over mountain path to the north-west, had a picnic lunch near the Museum, and then took the low path back to the trailhead. Another fantastic hike was actually in adjacent Saguaro National Park, with the trailhead being a bit north-west and across the road from the Desert Museum entry road. We did the Gould Mine Trail, connecting to the Sendaro-Esperanza Trail to the north-west, backtracking and then finishing the loop on King Canyon Trail. Total lengh was 8 km/5 miles. These trails are all clearly indicated on Google Maps. These and several other trails in the area were very doable (we're 60-ish) and highly enjoyable.And Gilbert Ray Campground is really fantastic. Large sites, good privacy, fantastic sunsets, and helpful staff and volunteers.

If you enjoy seeing local flora and fauna, this is a great park to visit. Bird shows twice a day show the birds of the desert. Various animals are also there for a zoo like experience. Fun for kids and adults

What views. The cactus forest is thicker than Saguaro East national park. Mountains are spectacular.
