I definitely expected a lot of tourists on this popular hike and I was right! However, it was Not overly crowded other than the very beginning and end of the hike. The bell rock climb also appeared to be very busy, but we didn't do that one. We took the courthouse trail loop and the views behind bell rock were spectacular. It was also quiet and there weren't many people back there. So peaceful. It was an easy hike and mostly flat with just a few spots with some incline. Spectacular hike and the perfect length for our 6-year-old husky.

There are so many beautiful hills and rock structures to see in and around Sedona, AZ but this one is a must see. It changes colors as the sun moves across the sky and is most remarkable right before sunset. The state maintained areas that you can visit to get the best views are worth the 5$ all day usage fee, which covers all the parking areas which have restroom facilities.

We hiked the Bell Rock, Courthouse loop trail. It was an easy, mostly level trail. A little over 4 miles total but not strenuous. Beautiful vistas at every turn. We were not there in the heat so it was an easy hike.

Lots of parking available for a minimal cost. There are bathroom facilities available. I didn't check them out but it was a building not port o potties. There are marked hiking trails or you can see three major formations from the parking lot.

This is a must stop in Sedona as the view is outstanding. The hike is not difficult however you should remember to bring water, sunscreen and chapstick.

The Bell Rock Trail which leads to the top of Bell Rock. Bell Rock is the first and most notable of the red rocks one sees approaching Sedona through the Village of Oak Creek. The trail is open to hikers and mountain bikers. Probably, one of the first hikes new folks to the area may wish to try.

Beautiful gentle hike. Enjoyed the sights and sounds of Bell Rock. Our group had different levels of mobility but we all enjoyed the formations and trails equally. Simply gorgeous!

We hiked the Courthouse Butte trail that goes around Courthouse Butte and next to Baby Bell Rock and Bell Rock. It is a good way to get an overall view of some of the best scenery in Sedona. We got there about 7:30 AM before the crowd. There were only 3 cars in the lot when we started and saw just a few hikers. By 10:30 the parking lot was more than full and hikers everywhere. It was a Saturday in March.

Absolutely loved the walk around Bell Rock, can't describe why but I just really liked it. To others it may not appeal. Unfortunately I didn't go all the way around and start to climb, but I know I will go back to Sedona one day because I absolutely loved the place. Very chilled out and laid back.

You literally get to the rock and they have suggested trails, but you can make your way as high as you like any which way you like. The energy of this particular rock was amazing, glowing for the next 24 hours after sitting in silence once I got to a resting point on this beauty.

We saw this wonderful formation each day while golfing at the Sedona Golf Resort. It is also very prominent as you sit in the 19th hole through the vast expanse of windows

Beautiful and very spiritual place. Great for the novice hiker. lots of different trails to hike. Easy to get to and parking was easy.

This hike is great because you can hike or take the walking trail around the rock. The hike was moderate and the views were amazing. A must do hike while in Sedona.

We did the Bell Rock and Monument trail which was about 4 miles and maybe 2 hours with stops and sightseeing. Wonderful sights and really a nice trail. Maybe a total of 1/4 mile with gardens or steps .. otherwise relatively flat.

Another great view of Bell Rock is at the Gateway Visitors Center (phone 928-203-2900) located on State Highway 179 on Red Rock Scenic Byway. As you take the Gateway Visitors Center exit (just on the south side of little Sedona) exit off Highway 179, you drive up and viola - majestic Bell Rock is before you just 2 miles north. (A staffer told me Bell Rock is 2 miles north - but it appears much closer as it is so large.) The visitors center has a plaza with an open area with fabulous views and photo ops of the magnificent Bell Rock. Certainly, you can travel closer to Bell Rock and shoot great photos as you hike! At this very well-kept 'secret' Gateway Visitors Center, educated staffers are available 7 days a week from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m to guide newcomers, like us. These staffers are so very knowledgeable and eager to help! I just jokingly asked for a 'Map for Dummies' and they had one! These ladies marked this little 'map for dummies' for me indicating the places we wanted to hike and I wanted to photograph starting with the mammoth red Bell Rock. They deciphered these maps and directed us with hints to continue our journey to beautiful Bell Rock and beyond!
