A very detailed and interesting museum of news paper history and the evolution of the newspaper printing technique. This museum is located minutes from the I-88 Dixon Exit and in Dixon's Downtown National Historic District.
The Dixon Telegraph Museum, located in the Dixon Telegraph offices, showcases the newspaper and its role in the history of Dixon, Illinois. The display area has an old fashioned 1850's printing press, historic newspapers and four walls of photographs showcasing the Telegraph and Dixon's past. The 155 year old Telegraph, the third oldest continually owned family newspaper in the nation, has plenty of history to showcase.The Dixon Telegraph Museum also features a tribute to the areas most famous Dixonite, Ronald Reagan. President Ronald Reagan has his own wall complete with photos from some of his pre-Washington days and his days in Dixon, Illinois.Self guided tours of The Dixon Telegraph Museum are available Monday thru Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm and Saturday 8:00 am to noon, free of charge.
