I remember when this course first opened "Beautiful" was the word. probable one fo the best courses in southern Illinois. Went on Memorial day (5/26/2014) absolutley Horrific the rough was all clover . had hard time finding balls. The water along the creeks they used to have pumps feeding them are now deactive, they used hole number one as a range and moved the tee box no halfway up the hole. greens are in terrible condition . I expected this from Midland Hills when i golfed there but not here. This literally felt like playing in a pasture. Dont waste your moneyhere,go to Hickory Ridge
The condition of this course is abysmal. We spent a ridiculous 3 hours just on the front 9. Because the fairways were overrun with so much tall grass and clover, we kept losing balls. There were lots of bare patches, as well. The greens were dry and damaged, too. We asked for a refund for the back 9, but were only given a voucher. The staff blamed the course's condition on recent weather conditions, and promised a better experience next time. This course is not regularly mowed and has neglect written all over it.
Great lunch experience. The food was really good. The atmosphere was a little cold, but we did really like to food.
This course is in terrible condition with several chemically damaged greens, covered in crab grass and fairways that look like they haven't been cut in weeks. There are no bathrooms on the front 9 and I can't speak of the back 9 as we requested a refund after 9 holes and a rude interaction with several employees as we made the turn. The "driving range" looks like the put some flags out on what was once the #1 fairway and moved the #1 tee box to a maintenance area. We play many courses and can forgive some questionable maintenance in this drought, but rude behavior is intolerable.
For two years in a row, we and five other couples spent a 2 day stay at Stone Creek Golf Club and resort. It's a beautiful course in good shape. We're from the St. Louis area and look forward to another "get a way" at Stone Creek. We have also gone on "adventures" with the Shawnee Adventure Guides.
