Very sweet day spa with wonderful employees...reasonable fees for services.

I was given a gift card to this spa for Mother's Day 2010. I used a little bit of it with a friend (back chair massage) last July and Anita, who was so negative about everything and everyone, did them. Very rushed and awkward experience. She validated the remaining amount good through 7/20/11, so when I called on the 18th to schedule some service I mentioned I had it. Donnie right away stammered and said something about a problem. I could tell he wasn't going to honor the certificate and just said thank you and hung up. After reading the above posts, I wasn't surprised this happened. Kind of disgusted, though.

First when i went in I let him know my problem areas and instead of working on those areas he did a full body. I didnt want my legs done, but he worked on them anyways. I decided to give him another chance and the same thing happened! Ok, so no more Massages from him. So i figured i'd try a spray tan at a later date. BIG MISTAKE! the application was not done corectly and it came out looking horrible! Wish the old owner was still there!!!! Not crazy about the new guy and would not reccomend it!

Theres a new owner of the A Therapeutic Touch Day Spa and he is wonderful . Donald brings a new life to the place and is a wonderful massage therapist and his spray tans are the bomb and I think I can speak for many others when I say that . I myself have been to him multiple times and cant believe the way he has helped me out . Anitta however is no longer there and I will never go see her again

Think of an a live infomercial with its own building. I've been there twice now. I went for a spray tan. I was NOT horribly impressed. I usually get spray tanned in a booth in Herrin, but their machine broke down and I decided to try this place. In the past, I had also used Egyptian Revival Day Spa for spray tans, and a salon in Carbondale. Basically, this wasn't my first rodeo. When I arrived, the receptionist immediately tried to sell me a package of spray tans. Why try to sell me a package before I get one to see if I like it? Once I refused the package deal, she explained a "pyramid scheme" type plan where I could refer my friends. Okay, so I may be exaggerating a little, but I was annoyed that she wasted 15 minutes of my time trying to sell me something when I was supposed to be getting pampered. The actual spray tan itself was a fiasco. The owner, Anita, was the one who performed it. The whole time, she bad mouthed the other places I usually go. She also complained to me about a problem she was having with her advertising agency. Now, I appreciate small talk as much as the next person, but if I’m at a spa pampering myself, I expect for the conversation to revolve around me, not around the owner of some spa. The most annoying part of the whole experience — IT TURNED ME ORANGE! Plus, it wasn’t even all over orange. She missed large chunks on my arms! I gave the place a second chance and went for an open house. However, this only confirmed my initial reaction. Every thing seemed highly disorganized. The staff were polite, but disinterested. I understand it is a business, but it seemed like there were credit card machines in every room, and every person was trying to sell you some $300 package. Bottom line, I will not be going again.
