We were at Trade winds Park to see the Fantasy Lights. I was very disappointed. It was very short, boring and outdated for the price. I was certainly expecting more. With such an expensive entrance fee, we should be allowed to go round as many times as we like. Will not be back next year!!!
I enjoyed the park very much and they even offer pavilions for rent for the day so you could have company picnics or family gatherings. You dont realize how big the park is until you drive into the back part of it.
The Christmas Light displays were nothing special. The 3D glasses produced a psychedelic view of the lights that was annoying at best. We still had a reasonably good time, but overall my wife, mother-in-law, and I were underwhelmed.
Oh lord, I cannot believe how bad and outdated those christmas lights were. They ask 14$ per car to get to see a bunch of old lights in the shape of animals and other crappy designs...We're in Florida in 2014 for crissake...I kept waiting for something good or interesting and I finally fell asleep...The most boring attraction I have ever seen, anywhere! For a minute, we thought we were back in Quebec!
we visit this park every year to go see the "Christmas lights". Unfortunately there is no sign of any celebration to the birth of Christ here. Only the celebration of cartoon gods. We still love the lights though. Get the 3D glasses!
There are two parts to this park, North and South of Sample Road just west of the Florida Turnpike. The North side features shelters for picnics, a miniature railroad with a very limited weekend schedule, a large horse barn, grazing land and horse trails for horseback riding as well as a small barn and farm animals that young and old will enjoy. There are lots of sheep or goats (?), chickens/rooster, a pair of bulls and lots of peacocks and peahens roaming freely (they don't like my 2 little Chiweenies and I have often had to intervene to keep them from attacking the under 5 pound dogs!). You can pet many of the animals. Don't try to pet a peacock! There is a playground for children. The South part of Tradewinds Park has numerous softball and soccer fields that can be utilized at night. Running the west side of the park is a lake suitable only for fishing and watching the birds catch their meals. Once again there are many Shelters with water, grills and tables which can be rented. Restrooms are located throughout the park and ice cold water fountains are an added plus. Tables are located in and out of shelters. Bicyclists abound due to the safe nature of the roads in the park (15 mph speed limit). One unique feature of this County Park is Frisbee Golf. There are more people playing than you would have guessed. There is a nice playground for younger children. Tucked away on the south and western side of the park is a walk through the woods including an elevated boardwalk. Check it out.
good to go on weekdays, they charge $1.50 per person on weekends... good to walk, bike, the lake its big, some play areas, bathrooms ok! 12 years ago, I left my purse behind my seat inside the car and they broke my window and took my purse around 4 pm... not a lot police around....
Great petting zoo, horseback riding, picnic area, playground and more..... one of the prettiest party in Broward county.
The park is keep in very good condition. The grass is cut, facilities are clean. Baseball, Soccer, kickball fields are all great. Several leagues using them so you probably need to reserve through parks department. I watched my son play an organized kickball game last week. He is 41.
Large enough to take dog on a decent length walk - nice quiet place on weekdays. Occasionally pelicans doing a little fishing - can be fun to see.
We are lucky enough to have our horses right behind the park and enjoy trail riding on the weekends. Nice park to take your horse to with lots of hills and a straight-away for working out (and galloping, shhh). Christmas time is the best because they light up the park at night. BBQ's and parties are great too with cute little pavilions. On the other side of the park is Butterfly world which is so awesome! Adults and children love Butterfly World.
went here to go geocaching. lots of activities in park. on the north side there is a farm and horse back riding and trails, nice area to ride bikes . there are peacocks roaming the grounds by the farm and a train. on the south part of the park is butterfly world, 25 dollars a person to get in, there is also a Frisbee golf course, picnic pavilions, and of course there are the geocaches to find. really pretty park.
This is a very large park. It has two parts. One side has fields, walking paths and the home of Butterfly World. On the opposite of the road is another section. the park features a disc golf course, fishing lake, kiddie train rides, and stables. So if you are visiting south Florida and want a great place to let the kids use up all that excess energy or adults too, this is the place to go to. There is a fee to enter the park but it isn't expensive at all.
We participated in a 5K race at Tradewinds park and had the chance to walk through a large portion of the park. The scenery was beautiful, very well kept and clean, the kids had a great time looking at the horse shelters and barn. We intend to go back and see the horses and ride the train they have. Great time and very inexpensive.
We visit this park frequently for both, Butterfly World and the playground. The grounds are always kept nice and clean and it's never "overly" crowded. Butterfly World is amazing for the young and old and can keep both entertained and amazed for hours. We have visited the pony rides as well and our son really had fun!
