I've booked Capt. Jesse for 2 separate trips now. It is a short drive from New Smyrna Beach - where we frequently vacation. My first day had tough weather, overcast and cooler temperatures even for Florida! But we prevailed! Landing gator trout and a redfish. Capt. Jesse kept the weather and wind conditions in mind, changing locations when needed to provide the best location possible for fly fishing in the Lagoon. If your thinking of taking a fishing trip to the Mesquito Lagoon then look no further then Captain Jesse Register of Flyin' High Charters. I mostly fly fish and had heard and read really great things about this landlocked fishery. So I asked some of my friends in the industry of who a good Fly guide would be and Jesse came highly recommended. I gave him a call and booked a trip in July. When the day came to fish the weather was so bad I almost thought about canceling but decided to go anyway. It was was blowing about 20-35 which is not very suitable conditions for throwing the fly but captain Jesse said he knew of a few places we could go to get out of the wind and he was right. We went to a bank that had baby tarpon rolling and had fun with those little guys for about and hour and then proceeded on our search for gator trout and redfish. Visibility was so bad that we were blowing fish out before I could cast to them. However had I been spin fishing I would have done a lot better with the trout. Needless to say I managed to boat four nice over slot fish on fly in less then horrible conditions. Capt Jesse's knowledge of the water and great company definitely left me wanting to come back. I've already booked two days in April and can't to get back down there. I highly recommend Jesse for a charter on the lagoon!!
