A beautiful and peaceful place. Great for a picnic lunch. A small hike to the lake which is a nice view
The directions lead to no where. There was no park entrance at Daffodil Street. We never found away to access the park. Not a good trip.
I don't understand this tiny Park. On one side of the Lake are houses, and on the Park side is a swampy lakeshore. There is nothing there to see. No critters, no birds, no wildlife, no scenic view. There is a short (maybe 10 minute) walking loop, but there is nothing to see while walking. It's also quite a ride from Rte 27, so I would suggest save your gas money, get a cold one at that restaurant/bar on the right side of the road on your way in, and just pretend you went to the Park.
Located about 12 miles south of Sebring off U.S. 27 near Lake Placid, we were surprised to find the gate closed and locked even though the information on the web indicates that the park is open 365 days a year, from 8:00am until sundown. Well, we were there the day after Thanksgiving, so perhaps the state ranger just overslept! Fortunately, some locals were there and told us to simply crawl under the gate, so we did and put our $2 fee in the envelope near the entrance. The park is small, but has a nice picnic area near the lake as well as restroom facilities that are nicely maintained. There had been a recent controlled burn, but a short trail through the scrub was OK. This is a perfect environment for the Florida scrub jay, but sadly, we didn't encounter any on this trip.
