Four of us played 18 holes at Esplanade Golf Course. We found the course to be in average condition. We were unhappy with the greens. There were tire tracks which made putting difficult. The back nine was full of construction but the front nine seemed okay. For the price, I would have expected more. The staff was very nice but really not ready for daily play. The cost for a round runs between $120 and 90 per person. At this time there is a temporary club house. The practice facilities were fine and bottled water was on the carts.
This is a well presented and designed golf course. The front nine is very receptive and nicely layed out around the planned development but the back nine which is fabulous as well is really stretched out. The course can be played by all levels and it was in excellent condition. We liked it so much that we played it two days in a row.
while the course is very new (built before the 800 )houses in the development, the staff was very friendly, the fairways were wide and forgiving. the greens were very fast because they were so new the prices for 18 with a cart were very reasonable and we would play here again.
I played here for the first time last winter when it was just a few months old and loved it. I have played it 5 or six times this winter and it is better than ever. Fairways are wide and lush with lots of roll out. The greens are super fast. We argued whether they were a 12 or 14 on a stimp meter. I have to get one of those (HA). It was extremely difficult to putt soft enough to keep the ball from rolling off the green. Like putting on linoleum. The grounds are beautifully manicured with flowers and lush grasses. When they grow in I'm sure they will swallow lots of balls but for now they are sparse enough to find balls in. Water comes into play on almost every hole. There are many different hole designs to hold your interest. No GPS on the carts and only SkyCaddie is mapped (no Garmin or Golf Buddy yet). The starter keeps groups far enough apart to be comfortable play. The staff is extremely helpful and thankful to have you play there. Ice and water are available at the start and turn. Water is available every other hole. This will eventually be a huge housing community and the wide open spaces will disappear. Too bad. No rest rooms out on the course. The clubhouse is small and they say it is temporary pending the construction of a permanent one somewhere around #18. Right now they have draught beers and a limited selection of microwave sandwiches in the pro shop with about 6 tables. The beverage cart is well stocked with sandwiches beer, soda, snacks and liquors. The course is so big you will see the beverage cart only 2 or 3 times during your round but there are coolers on the carts and they provide ice. Beers are $4. The prices a very reasonable right now. I expect them to go substantially higher in the next year or two. There is also talk of this place going private, but that seems to be a common conversation at courses around here and the truth is, there are so many courses in the area most folks don't see the value in restricting themselves to one course. Range balls are included in the greens fee. Be sure to test the practice green before your round to get a feel for their speed. This is my new favorite course. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed. Average round time is 4:08.
I played this back in October & it is an excellent new Golf Course.......HUGE GREENS & awesome fairways. The layout is very challenging. Great staff.Everyone was super friendly!!!! We will definitely play this one again.........
A 18 hole venue on Lakewood Ranch near their Legacy course that has recently opened. I make it a point to try new courses so when this one popped up on a online booking site I grabbed the opportunity. The course scorecard says it opened only a few months ago but the greens and fairways are well established and firm. Because it's new the holes are wide open on each side of the fairways which will change as the propped up trees mature & housing gets built in around it. I enjoyed the layout- played from the whites since my playing partners did. Well designed track with variances in yardage to keep it interesting. An easy #1 was followed by very challenging #2 & 3 holes. Cart service in the parking lot was excellent and they were very friendly. Nice range and practice areas near the 1st tee and a well stocked water stop was there as well. Saw a beverage cart on the course twice, but no restrooms that I remember. Fairways are ample, but you can find water on just about every hole if you stray. One of my playing partners scored an ace on #4 152 yards with a seven iron- congrats George! My only negative comment was having the pro shop and bar shutdown when we finished. No way to celebrate a hole in one or have a post round beverage ( and we had 4 groups behind us) So no review about that area of service. No GPS on the carts and with it being new it doesn't show up on all golf apps yet- no 150 yard markers, but sprinkler heads are marked. Round played Oct 30, 2014. I give the course a 8.5 outta 10- a cut above most of the tracks in the area so it will get a lot of play from the snowbirds this winter. Hit 'em straight!
